The boomstick is one of Que's devices for kicking ass. It's a hand-held explosive device with a 30-second timer set to deliver the hurt.

At an impromptu regrouping of the Autobots and humans in the midst of war-torn Chicago, Que gave the men in Capt. Lennox's team two devices he was working on, one of which was the boomstick.

Whilst already dangling from Starscream's optic with his grapple glove, Sam Witwicky primed his boomstick, embedding it in the Decepticon's other eye. This caused the already panicked Starscream to increase his wild flailing as the explosive device's timer ticked down to zero, at which point it destroyed his head and most of his chest, killing him. Sam attempted to use another boomstick in aid of Bumblebee, who had been captured by the Decepticons and was about to be executed, but the device failed to properly arm and was not able to be used. NEST members in another part of the city used their boomsticks to take down several Decepticons, attaching the devices to their legs and finishing them off after the explosions left them crippled.
