The Boxer Rebellion was an event in Chinese history near the start of the Twentieth Century, during which it became extremely unhealthy to be a Christian in China.

He was saved from an angry local by Lou Hoover, who happened to be in the area with her husband Herbert. Trapped by the rebellion, the trio used a radio to transmit intelligence to American forces.
