Brake-Neck (G1)

This article is about the Earth Wars game character. For the Combiner Wars toy character, see Wildrider (G1){{#switch:{{#sub:Wildrider (G1)|-1}}|!=|.=|?=|.}} For a list of other meanings, see Brake-Neck (disambiguation).
Brake-Neck is a Decepticon Stunticon from the Earth Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Ahhhhh! Much better! Now for the TERRORISTS!

Brake-Neck doesn't care that he's nuts and reckless, and that's what makes him so dangerous. Despite this, Brake-Neck is a bag of nerves, and sudden loud noises are prone to make him take off like a bat out of hell.<ref>Earth Wars mobile game bio for Brake-Neck</ref>

As soon as Brake-Neck arrived at the Decepticon base, he sprinted towards the mountain, alarming Luca. From there he showed off his sniping skills by shooting Starscream in the foot. He expressed that he wished to test his skills further on some Autobot heads. Brake-Neck arrival

Brake-Neck was hired by Megatron to retrieve the Nova Core after Reflector's mishap. However, due to the radiation in the area, he could not approach, instead opting to take a shot at Smokescreen, who was in his sights. Bit of a Longshot

He continued to wait out the radiation until the atmosphere levels were safe enough for him to recover the Nova Core. Battle Hardened

When Reflector asked for Brake-Neck to provide cover fire, the Stunticon was rather reluctant, instead wishing to take shots at humans and emergency response vehicles. Smokescreen kept him busy while First Aid went after Reflector and the Nova Core.

After the battle was over, Brake-Neck shot a Medibot in the back before venting his frustrations on Viewfinder by promptly shooting him too. Big Bang!

The Combiner Wars Brake-Neck toy forms the basis of a separate character in the Earth Wars mobile game.
Combiner Wars Brake-Neck is Hasbro's release of the Unite Warriors Wildrider figure, (again) renamed for trademark issues. Brake-Neck is a new head retool of Dead End, transforming from a supercar resembling a Ferrari 458 Italia to robot and back. As a Combiner Wars Deluxe limb, he is able to combine with any Combiner Wars-style Voyager Class figure or form one of Godbomber's legs but is, of course, intended to be combined with Motormaster, Breakdown, Dragstrip, and Dead End to create Menasor (though his cardback and instructions show him replacing Dead End rather than Offroad). Brake-Neck's cardback bio contains a cute reference to his original name, citing how 'even the unpredictable Stunticons see him as an out-of-control wild rider'.
Like Dead End, Brake-Neck comes with a copy of "Combiner Wars #8" (actually Robots in Disguise #16).

The Combiner Wars multi-pack Brake-Neck toy is the basis of the G2 skin for Earth Wars Brake-Neck. (Sort of. See "Notes" below.)
A redeco of the Combiner Wars mass-retail Stunticons, this Brake-Neck is based on his cancelled Generation 2 toy (or more precisely, a fan artist's digibash based on another fan's hand-painted recreation of the cancelled Generation 2 toys). Compared to his fellow G2 Combiner Wars Stunticons, Wildrider is the most accurate to his G2 toy.

Notes

[edit]
  • Brake-Neck debuted in March 2017 as the nominal Earth Wars adaptation of the Generation 1 character Wildrider, mostly based on the 2015 Combiner Wars figure which had been renamed "Brake-Neck" for trademark reasons. The game dropped hints that in Earth Wars continuity, Brake-Neck and Wildrider were separate individuals, but it would not be until October 2023 that Wildrider himself would appear, based on the distinct Legacy toy, cementing Brake-Neck as his own individual.
  • In the game, Brake-Neck, Dead End, and Dust Up share a model mostly based on Dust Up's toy, with Brake-Neck's only difference being that he was given a mouth.
  • Brake-Neck also received a Generation 2-themed pay-to-unlock skin (at right) based on Wildrider's G2-themed Combiner Wars redeco. However, this skin would end up being erroneously assigned to Dead End instead due to the both of them effectively sharing the same model with one slight difference. In fact, the aforementioned render you're seeing uses Dead End's model as it sports the mouthplate he and Dust Up have.
