Brakedown is a Decepticon from the Revenge of the Fallen portion of the movie continuity family.
The Invisible Girl! I MUST FLEE!

For a guy like Brakedown (aka Breakdown), his job is to not be seen. He's a scout, not a warrior, and so he's built for speed and not conflict! Unfortunately, Mudflap has located him, so Brakedown just might find himself outclassed. Flee, Brakedown, flee!

Fiction

IDW movie comics

[edit]

As part of Strike Team Ursa, Brakedown (alongside Dirt Boss and Reverb) was dispatched to Wendover, Utah by Soundwave to investigate the mysterious organization that had resurrected Ravage. They discovered a hidden base beneath a garbage dump, but fled after they accidentally activated its self-destruct mechanism. While fleeing, they were intercepted by the Autobots Ironhide and Sideswipe, the latter of whom promptly bisected Brakedown. Nefarious #2

Titan movie comics

[edit]
Man, Furman just plain don't like me.

Brakedown was incarcerated in NEST's maximum security jail in South Africa. He decided it'd be a jolly wheeze to insult that loser Bludgeon for getting whupped by a cadet, haw haw!

Oh wait, Bludgeon wanted to be captured so he could break out and break all the 'Cons out?! Oh forget everything I said, Bludgeon, I'm totally behind you 100%, please don't kill me as a warning to everyone else not to question you AAAK- Inside Out!

Years ago, Knucklehead claimed that Drift's plan to break into an Autobot stronghold was "Breakdown-level crazy". Drift took offence to this comparison. Adrift in Time and Space

Unite for the Universe

[edit]

Brakedown was part of Bludgeon's crew alongside Mindwipe and Dirge, raiding N.E.S.T. Advanced Research Facility in Japan to gain the secrets of Project: Unite. Their presence was leaked, however, and Brakedown was buried alive under snow and ice by Optimus. The Secret of Project: Unite

Revenge of the Fallen

[edit]
I once caught a Seacon THIS big!
  • Brakedown (Scout Class, 2009)
  • TakaraTomy ID number: RD-23
Part of the fifth wave of Revenge of the Fallen Scout Class figures (and the only new mold among that wave), Brakedown converts from a white sports car (a mish-mash of Lamborghini and Ferrari parts) to a white and blue robot. Like Revenge of the Fallen Runamuck, he homages the Generation 1 Stunticon Breakdown, though now in form, color, and name.
This mold was also used to make Hunt for the Decepticons Oil Pan and Generations GDO Dead End.

  • Breakdown (Mini-Vehicle, 2011?)
  • Series: Road Assault
  • Number: ?
A redeco of the (also cancelled) Speed Stars Drift, Breakdown is a small, non-transforming, die-cast sports car based on a cross between an [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Nissan Silvia#S15|{{#if:Nissan Silvia S15|Nissan Silvia S15|Nissan Silvia#S15}}]] and the [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Mitsubishi FTO|{{#if:||Mitsubishi FTO}}]]. His robot mode is sculpted on the bottom of the vehicle. Since Drift was part of the "Double Siders" series, Breakdown features oversized tires that allow him roll upside down.

Notes

[edit]
  • The European market release of Brakedown features the obligatory trimmed-down on-packaging bio in twelve languages. However, in the process, three sentences from the U.S. version's bio ("Decepticon Scout BRAKEDOWN avoids contact with the enemy at all costs. His job is to observe and report, not fight. That's why he's geared for speed, not battle.") were condensed into a nonsensical "BRAKEDOWN observes and reports, and why he is geared for speed."
  • Simon Furman has used him three times and killed him in all three!
  • When Speed Stars Breakdown was first revealed by Hasbro during BotCon 2010, his name was spelled "Brakedown" like the ROTF toy.
  • Breakdown was used as a working name for Soundwave's Dark of the Moon body.<ref name="nizzi">Josh Nizzi DOTM concepts.</ref>
