Synopsis

Sam races down the street, fleeing from a yellow Camaro that appears to be driving itself! He bumps into a police car... which turns out to be an evil robot in disguise! The evil Barricade demands Sam's map to the AllSpark. But the yellow Camaro transforms into another robot, Bumblebee, and begins to fight Barricade. Fleeing once more, Sam crashes into Mikaela. The two of them run away together when Frenzy comes after them. Frenzy manages to catch up to Sam, and jumps on his back. But Mikaela goads the Decepticon into attacking her instead, and she quickly knocks out the little brute.

When all the fighting is done with, Barricade lays in pieces and Bumblebee approaches Sam and Mikaela. Sam and Bumblebee become friends. Then Mikaela asks why Bumblebee transforms into a beat up old car if he can disguise himself as anything, prompting the Autobot to adopt a new alternate mode: a shiny new Camaro! The three then drive off, ready for anything!

As the reader progresses through the story, they encounter various icons which indicate they are to press one of the buttons down the right hand side of the book, playing a sound effect. There are seven different sound effects, accompanied by seven different icons. The "Bumblebee" icon plays an audio clip of a car driving, then screeching its tires. The icon depicting Barricade half-way through his transformation sequence plays a brief sound of mechanical things shifting. The icon depicting Barricade face plays a clip of a police car's siren. The "Decepticon logo" icon plays a brief musical cue. The "Autobot logo" icon plays a different musical cue. The icon depicting Bumblebee punching Barricade plays the sound of metal clanking. The final icon depicts Frenzy's face. Listen to it yourself!

With those big soulless eyes, no wonder he's such a beloved children's icon.

Much like Milton's classic Paradise Lost, Bumblebee Rumble begins in medias res, starting out with Sam on a pink bicycle trying desperately to escape the Camaro that has been following him.
Barricade is described as being 16 feet tall; Shawn Currie seems to enjoy mentioning that particular fact.
Rather than an industrial zone seen in the movie, the action in this case takes place close to downtown.
Mikaela knocks Frenzy out...with her bare hands. Because reciprocal saws are for wimps.
