I think this belongs in the Category:Characters by species.

  1. Category:Aliens is in Category:Characters by species and "alien" is not a species. We need the counter-category. If a character isn't an alien he is an Earthling.
  2. The description for Category:Characters by species says "Characters categorized by what species (for lack of a better term) they are." so I think that leaves wiggle-room for "Earthlings". - Starfield 13:49, 7 December 2009 (EST)
I wrote that. And I meant taxonomic classifications, such as "race" and avoiding the question of whether "Transformers" can be considered an "species" as we know the concept. I did not write it to include planets of origin, which is not even remotely relevant to the idea at all. —Interrobang 14:36, 7 December 2009 (EST)
And, no, we don't need "counter-categories". We note aliens because they deviate from the norm.—Interrobang 14:37, 7 December 2009 (EST)
Now that "Aliens" has changed categories the Category:Characters by species category is totally broken. You can't find things like Quintessons, Vok, and Nebulons in the Category:Characters by species category. Why can't "Earthlings" and "Aliens" simply be sub-categories? - Starfield 14:40, 7 December 2009 (EST)
Oh, hey. I just fixed the "totally broken" category in the span of two minutes. (There is no Vok that has its own article. That category is for things relating to the Vok, not characters.) And, to answer your question, because being of Earth or not being of it is not a taxonomic classification. I'm not sure what part of this concept eludes you. —Interrobang 14:47, 7 December 2009 (EST)
The category Category:Characters by species is still broken. What is the intention of the category? It is so someone can find a character if they only know their species. What if I was looking for that Titan lady and all I knew was that she was a Titan? I can't find Talaria from that category since "Titans" isn't a category in "Characters by species". The way it was before wasn't ideal, but I could at least find the Titans by clicking on Aliens. - Starfield 15:08, 7 December 2009 (EST)
I am pretty sure there is nothing stopping this hypothetical reader from clicking on "Aliens". Or thinking of other options and going to the Titan (species) article itself. —Interrobang 15:39, 7 December 2009 (EST)
