So I was thinking. There are several characters who do not exist as toys/merchandise, yet appear in multiple media formats. Firestar appears in both cartoon and comics. Derodomantatus is in both comic and prose. And so on. I think we should have an umbrella "Fiction-only characters", with comic- cartoon- prose- as sub-categories, so non-toy characters like the above can be properly noted. Humans

[edit]

I think we should rethink having humans in this category. We don't really expect them to get toys and when they do it is a bonus. It should be used more like "Fiction-only Transformers." Thoughts? - Starfield 14:58, 29 June 2009 (EDT)

OK, maybe we shouldn't expel all the humans from the category, but would anyone have a problem if I made "Fiction-only Transformers" as a sub-category of "Fiction-only characters"? (As well as sub-categories for "Cartoon-only Transformers", "Comic-only Transformers", and "Prose-only Transformers") - Starfield 21:19, 28 November 2010 (EST)
Sounds like there is no objection. I'll wait a bit and get started on new sub-categories. - Starfield 13:11, 29 November 2010 (EST)
This doesn't seem all that necessary to me. There's only 160 guys in this category. It's not like the Autobot/Decepticon categories where there were pages and pages of them. --abates 15:08, 29 November 2010 (EST)
There are 549 in "comic-only characters" and 303 in "cartoon-only characters". I just think it would be a lot more interesting to have a list of which Transformers don't have toys or were only in a comic. Humans and aliens are expected to be fiction-only. - Starfield 15:23, 29 November 2010 (EST)

AllSpark Almanacs-only characters?

[edit]
There is an existing stale discussion on the matter here.

Where should characters who appear only in the AllSpark Almanacs go? "Fiction-only characters" is an umbrella category that should only really be used if a character appears in more than one kind of fiction (i.e. comics and cartoon). Almanac-only characters should go in a more specific category. Would the Almanacs be prose-only? Sort of. Are there straight-up profiles in the Almanacs? If so, those specific references could go in Profile-only characters, but that wouldn't apply to all Almanac-only characters. Truthfully, there is probably more than enough Almanac-only characters to justify an "Almanac-only characters" category. Should we go with that? It would be the most unambiguous. I mostly ask the question for consistency sake. I don't think all the characters are treated the same. - Starfield 01:07, 5 August 2010 (EDT)
