Who asked for this, again? Why are you making categories based on a single 21-issue comic book series? Mimi (talk) 10:20, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- I asked for this. We have categories for Ladybird Books characters, fiction-only Classics characters are categorised appropriately, as is anyone who ever showed up in a background shot of Axiom Nexus as Transtech, I'm not sure it's conceptually different to any of those. Besides, 22 issues (20 plus "Counterpoint" and #0) is a fair amount of fiction by any standards, there are still lots of RG1-specific characters and locations to be written up and as I seem to be the one writing up those articles at the moment, it's extremely helpful to me at least to be able to keep track of them all. --Emvee (talk) 10:38, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- Nobody asked for the Ladybird categories, either, Classics is a franchise, and TransTech is a "franchise"/its own continuity family. G1 also already has much larger sets of fiction (cartoon, Marvel, IDW, etc.), so I don't know why you're overselling those 22 issues as warring some exception. Don't you think we'd already have categories for them if we were doing ridiculously continuity-specific categories? Mimi (talk) 11:05, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- I'm not trying to oversell anything, it's a free wiki and if you disagree you can do so. I think it's a valid category, as Regeneration One is a micro-continuity all of its own alongside "Another Time & Place", G2, G2 (UK), and Classics and while there's still a bunch of redlinks to add and articles to update and I want to go ahead and do that. I think it's useful and it's at least as valid as the categories I mentioned above but if you want to go ahead and take it all down, be my guest. There's no need to get antagonistic over this, all I'm doing is trying to make a better wiki. --Emvee (talk) 19:00, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
- Moreover, the plain Generation 1 * categories are generally overcrowded to the point of not being terribly useful. Add __HIDDENCAT__ to the categories if you're panicking about the effect on the bottom of pages - while it wouldn't be ideal to hide them from the list on each page, at least the categories themselves would continue to exist and be searchable. - SanityOrMadness (talk) 19:11, 29 July 2014 (EDT)
