Skyfall and Landquake explore the mysterious cavern, coming across another familiar Transformer...
Synopsis
[edit]Cliffjumper is very happy to have an excuse to blast Skyfall, but before he can pull the trigger, another collapse sends both of them and Landquake tumbling into an underground chamber. Cliffjumper's leg has been damaged in the fall under a boulder, and as he pushes it off, Skyfall and Landquake explore their surroundings. On a shrine in front of what appear to be a pool of energon, there are two robots similar to Skyfall and Landquake depicted, along with what appears to be a statue of another robot. Skyfall is interested in these, having seen something similar before back in his home universe, but Landquake is far more interested in the Velocitronian. Skyfall proposes a truce until both of them find what they're looking for, and the two introduce themselves properly.
Cliffjumper, his aggression not halted by his lack of mobility, blasts at the two, but Skyfall's forcefield redirects the shot, causing a massive flash of light from the energon pool. Cliffjumper is briefly blinded, and Skyfall halts Landquake from finishing off the small Autobot, not wanting anymore destruction. A new voice concurs, and as Landquake reflexively flips to bring his weapons on the voice, the "statue" reveals himself to be alive, having been brought online by the flash. Telling his guests that the chamber is a place of peace, the robot walks over to Cliffjumper, and a shocked Landquake and Skyfall watch on as the newcomer uses his abilities to heal Cliffjumper's leg. Even Cliffjumper is at a loss for words, but as the robot attempts to explain that this is a place where weapons are not needed, Laserbeak and Ravage spring forward to attack. Skyfall, Cliffjumper, and Landquake unleash their arsenal, downing Laserbeak and causing Ravage to flee. Landquake pushes them to move, knowing others will come. Skyfall explains that while the newcomer-who gives his name as Breakaway-was asleep, a war has happened...

Quotes
[edit]"Who is that, Skyfall?"
"It's... uh, it's the guy from the wall."
- —Cliffjumper and Skyfall observe the new arrival.
"You're a heck of a healer, buddy, but you suck as a prophet."
- —Cliffjumper, as Breakaway's "place of peace" becomes a battlefield.
"Right. You sort of woke up into the middle of a war, which should be here, like in this room, soon."
- —Skyfall urges his companions to keep moving.
Notes
[edit]Continuity notes
[edit]- Skyfall had seen a similar mural back in "Revelations Part 4".
- Ravage and Laserbeak had the ability to speak in the early issues of the Marvel The Transformers series, but as time went on, they became silent.
Transformers references
[edit]- As Cliffjumper shields his eyes from the flash, he exclaims "son of a Sharkticon."
Errors
[edit]- Landquake's internal narration box on page 2 is sitting on top of Skyfall, making it look misattributed. It's especially confusing since Landquake refers to Skyfall himself ("this Autobot") in the thought.
- On page 4, panel 3, the speech bubble placement makes it appear that Skyfall replies to Landquake's comment before he actually says it.
- Breakaway's introductory speech balloon in the next-to-last panel isn't quite pointing at him.
- A general dearth of commas makes some of the dialogue less clear than it should be.
