Crystals

[edit]

If crystals lock on to the coordinates of a certain bot, there are chances of the bot appearing through the Space Bridge. If the bot, at their specific star rating, has already been brought through before, the Bridge will create a hologram of them, which then dissipates and converts into Spark, Energon, a set number of crystal shards that be used create crystals for bots of higher star ratings (for instance, a duplicate 2-star will give you 3-star shards), and bot-specific and/ class-specific shards that are used to rank them up. If the Bot that is brought through is the same as another bot in your collection, but with a different star rating, they will become an existing, more powerful duplicate of said bot that exists alongside them.

More often than not, resources come through instead of bots. These prizes can vary from Spark used in the Research Lab to Power Cores and Battle Boosts that can aid squads on the battlefield. Rarer crystals may also give crystal shards.

Many varieties of crystals can be found over Earth:

  • Naturally-generating purple Free Crystals can be collected periodically every 8 hours. They provide resources and sometimes 2-4-star Bots. And a whole lotta duplicates.
  • The turquoise Mixed Boost Crystal is only obtained from bundles and is capable of giving Sparks, Energon, or Battle Boosts.
  • Bronze Total Spark Crystals can be obtained from events and the Cyber Pass, and give the three variants of Spark: standard, combiner, and C.O.M.B.A.T.
  • Orange Premium Crystals are slightly rarer crystals obtained with shards given as rewards during events. They can also be purchased for 450 Cyber Coins each (or one can purchase of a group of 10 with 4500). They give 2-4-star bots.
    • Character Crystals, obtained for 600 Cyber Coins or purchased with real money from character bundles in the store, are Premium Crystals with a slight chance of obtaining the named bot, but not always guaranteed. The characters offered for sale change periodically. There are variants of these crystals where the bot in question is the only one available, and thus is a guaranteed pull, and a further variant of that version for combiners where you're guaranteed to pull a component of the combiner, with no duplicates. Using varying amounts of character shards obtained from duplicates, one can also purchase the former variant to get a 4-star version of the bot.
    • Multi-colored Class Crystals are obtained through the same methods as the above Character Crystals, as well as events, and (as expected) give bots of a specific class.
  • Silver 3 Star Crystals require 2000 shards, and are the most plentiful, as they can be obtained in most events as well as from the many duplicates you'll get when you open your Free Crystals.
  • Gold 4 Star Crystals require 2500 shards. They're not easy to obtain, as their shards either high-end prizes in events and the Cyber Pass or only obtainable from semi-common 3-star duplicates.
  • The rarest of the rare of crystals, the 5 Star Crystal, was just recently discovered. It requires too many 5000 5-star shards, which are (as we said earlier) only obtained from 4-star bot duplicates and the upper portion of the Cyber Pass. If you're lucky, they'll put them up as a prize in an event, but don't expect it to happen all the time. Only people who have no life diligent and active players can have the hopes of attaining this one-of-a-kind crystal, for bringing the most prestigious of bots for MAXIMUM DESTRUCTION, and only a select number of bots have the prestigious ability to come through as a 5-star bot. And best of all, no duplicates! 5-star bots are grouped in batches of five, with new batches being released periodically by the game developers.
    • For reasons unknown, Optimus Primal and Beast Wars Megatron are the only bots with 5-stars who can't be obtained in one of the batches. Instead, they have character-specific crystals that can be purchased for a whopping 50000 Shanix in the shop.
  • Unique event crystals have better chances of obtaining Spark, Energon, Battle Boosts, shards, or new bots, depending on the event theme. Groups of them are sometimes bundled into event chests, then distributed to the player with varying pull rates when they open it.
    • When new bots first arrive to Earth, guaranteed crystals of that bot are available in their introductory event. The 2-star crystal of the new bot can be easily earned, but only the most hard-working of players and big real-money spenders can obtain the rarest 3-, 4-, and 5-star crystals. Fortunately, these bots are eventually added to the Free and Premium Crystals.

When a player's Headquarters reaches level 8, they unlock their opposite faction's crystals, which they have the option to spend the shards they earn on (in addition to, of course, claiming daily crystals). These crystals will be differentiated from your chosen faction's ones with a sheen based on their insignia (red for the Autobots, purple for the Decepticons). The only ones that deviate from this pattern are 5-Star Crystals, which have faction-based sheens regardless of if you've unlocked the opposite faction's crystals.

Chips

[edit]

Power Cores and C.O.M.B.A.T. Bots are obtainable via chips. These chips can be unlocked at any point in the game, but are only usable once you get the Power Core Lab after completing the "Secrets of Nebulos" campaign.

Power Core Chips, which cannot produce duplicates, come in several forms:

  • Gold Chips, which are available for bots and buildings, give (as their name suggests) gold chips. For both versions, you can get a universal or class/building-specific core, while the bot version has a smaller chance of giving you a bot-specific core. They are obtainable via events, bundles, and the Cyber Pass, or one can "fuse" five Power Cores together.
  • Blue Gmetal Chips work the same way, but with the significantly-rarer Gmetal rating. On the off-chance that you want to spend half of your hard-earned Prime shards on something other than a Prime Core Chip (see below), these chips can also be purchased with them in the same place you'd get crystals, C.O.M.B.A.T. Chips, etc.
  • The Power Core equivalent of 5 Star Crystals is the Prime Core Chip, which costs 5000 Prime shards and gives the player one of the game's 12 Prime Cores with no duplicates.
  • Purple Golden Lagoon Power Core Chips can be purchased for 5000 Shanix and give the player temporary, damage-reflecting Golden Lagoon Cores.
  • The shanix store also offers dark green Building Power Core, Bot Power Core, and Specific Power Core Chips for 500, 500, and 1000 Shanix, respectively. The former two give universal and class/building-specific cores of all three ratings (silver, gold, and Gmetal), while the latter gives bot-specific ones such as G1 Cores.
  • Also available for 500 Shanix is the Squad Core Chip, which gives squad cores that, when equipped a squad member, enhance everyone of the same class on that team.

The system for C.O.M.B.A.T. Bots is similar to the crystal system, but it has several differences:

  • Purple Free Chips can claimed every 22 hours, as opposed to the 8 hours used for Free Crystals. For reasons outlined below, duplicates give 5-star shards instead of shards for the star rating above the one for the bot you got.
  • Also purple Premium Chips (which still grant 2-4-star bots) are only obtainable with 225 Cyber Coins (or 2250 for a bundle of 10).
  • There are no 3 Star or 4 Star Chips, nor are there Class Chips. There are, however, Character Chips, including the ones obtained from events and character shards.
  • Regular 5-star C.O.M.B.A.T. Bots can be obtained from 5 Star Chips, which work the same way as 5 Star Crystals and cost the same amount of shards, but 5-star Weapons are restricted to their own specific chip, which costs 2500 more shards.

Notes

[edit]
  • They were called "quantum crystals" in very early beta versions of the game, but now they're simply called "crystals".
  • As the caption joke above suggests, 2 Star Crystals were removed from the game in 2020, presumably because they realized you'd be getting plenty of 2-star bots from the daily crystals.
