The Quintessons attempted to introduce subliminal messaging into the Junkions' television, which the Junkions promptly spread galaxy-wide using their omni-directional relay. One of the planets affected was Cygnus Seven, resulting in the local inhabitants mounting an assault on the Earth embassy and managing to breach the front doors. The Quintessons were able to spy on events from their spaceship as they reviewed activities around the galaxy. The Big Broadcast of 2006

In the UK version of the story, the events of "The Big Broadcast of 2006" are a fabrication invented by Wreck-Gar.

After the Junkions redirected the Quintessons' subliminal broadcasts preaching hatred of other lifeforms to the universe with their omni-directional relay, Cygnus Seven was among those affected by it. As World War III ravaged Earth, the Autobots saw fit to abandon the blighted planet aboard Fortress Maximus. After spending decades in space, they detected Cygnus Seven's stockpile of energon. Before they could begin mining it, however, the Decepticons aboard Trypticon attacked, their boarding sending the Autobot Titan hurtling down to the planet, he and all his passengers winding up in stasis lock.

In the mid-23rd century, the Federation established a dilithium mining outpost on Cygnus Seven. On stardate 5892.7, a survey team found Maximus and inadvertently activated his autonomous systems which repaired Megatron. After reviving his troops, Megatron led an attack on the surface for the energon. Prime's Directive, Part Two

With the colony unable to match the Decepticons' firepower, the USS Enterprise was called in. Though the Enterprise crew managed to chase away the Decepticons, they had wounded Optimus Prime in the process. As the crew pondered how to repair him, they ventured deeper into the mine shafts and discovered the rest of Prime's crew. Prime's Directive, Part One Once the Autobots and the Federation had come to an understanding, the Decepticons returned, now allied with the Klingon Empire. Prime's Directive, Part Two The colony's defences soon proved insufficient against the invaders until Fortress Maximus, now reformatted into Fortress Tiberious, entered the battlefield. Prime's Directive, Part Three Maximus's entry onto the battlefield was enough motivation for Starscream to abscond with a bounty of dilithium and find himself a new world to conquer prompting an enraged Megatron to follow. After rounding up their Klingon prisoners, both the Autobots and the Federation left the planet to pursue the Decepticons. Prime's Directive, Part Four
