The Functionist Universe

[edit]

In a universe where Megatron never came to be, the Functionist Council grew ever more powerful, eventually usurping the Senate and assuming complete control of Cybertron. In their pursuit of the "perfect shape", the Council would periodically revise the Grand Cybertronian Taxonomy by detonating the obsolescence chips of redundant alternate modes, with the laser pointers being wiped out half a million years prior to 2014. Footage of the event was recorded in Rewind's personal database.

In 2014, in another universe, the native Rewind experienced a flashback to the Dark Dawn. As he recounted this to Chromedome, his partner pointed out that not only did he have no idea what the archivist was talking about, such events were fundamentally irreconcilable with their own history, alerting them that someone was mucking about with time.
