Dark Rodimus is a Decepticon from the Animated continuity family.
No wonder Megatron decided to use Lugnut for his cloning experiments later on.

Seeking to create a new, competent warrior for his army, Megatron used a fragment of the AllSpark and Starscream's cloning technology to create Dark Rodimus, a dark duplicate of the Autobot Rodimus Prime. Dark Rodimus was charged with dispensing with and replacing the real Rodimus, through the use of an electronic paint job, but the arrogant clone is more interested in usurping Megatron. For now, Dark Rodimus' given mission serves his ultimate goal of becoming Decepticon leader.

If ever an Animated toy needed facial hair...
  • Black Rodimus (Deluxe, 2011)
  • Accessories: "Energy Bow Gun", 2 missiles
Black Rodimus is a redeco of Animated Rodimus Minor in a black-and-purple deco, rather akin to Shattered Glass Rodimus, transforming into a futuristic car that is an homage to the vehicle mode of Generation 1 Hot Rod. A panel on the car's hood, which is also the figure's chest, can be flipped to either show an engine block or the figure's Decepticon insignia. The figure comes with an Energy Bow, capable of firing two missiles. His bow can be tabbed to the roof of his car mode or snapped on his hand. The tabs that secure his bow in vehicle mode are 5mm wide, making it usable by other figures as well.
He was exclusively available as a mail-order item from Hyper Hobby magazine in Japan. Ordering information was released in the December 2010 issue of (published in early November), and the ordering window was closed at the end of December 31. Black Rodimus began shipping on April 22 2011.
This mold was retooled into Animated Breakdown and Sideswipe.
