Darkstorm is a Darkling Lord from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Darkstorm was the previous leader of the Darkling Lords.

Fiction

2005 IDW continuity family

On the planet Prysmos during its second Age of Magic, Darkstorm was one of a number of "Visionaries" under the command of Leoric, serving the capricious Merklynn. On one such mission, they journeyed to the city of Valorak to dispatch a group of manipulative warlocks. Leoric misjudged their power, however, and the wizards were able to use their magic to turn the knights against one another. The Curtain Inspired by this divide, Darkstorm, encouraged by Merklynn, gathered a group of followers he dubbed the "Darkling Lords," hoping to use his vigor and charisma to bring permanent change to Prysmos. The Curtain Neither Leoric nor Darkstorm ever realized that Merklynn had manipulated everything from behind the scenes to divide the Visionaries and create competition. Good Men

When the three suns that Prysmos orbited moved back out of alignment, the gravitational forces tore Prysmos apart. Most of the Visionaries were able to escape in time, but Darkstorm was left behind and perished. He was succeeded by his former follower Virulina, and a statue commemorating him was erected inside the Monastery of the Darkling Lords in New Prysmos. Schismatic

Notes

• Darkstorm was, of course, the original leader of the Darkling Lords in the 1980s Visionaries cartoon, voiced by Chris Latta. The statue depicting his likeness is drawn to resemble his 1980s cartoon model, rather than the updated "techno-barbarian" aesthetic that characterizes the other redesigned Visionaries.
