Dirt Boss is a Decepticon Constructicon from the Animated continuity family.
Diminutive, ain't he?

Created accidentally by the fusion of a forklift, a Headmaster unit, and an AllSpark fragment, Dirt Boss is a little bot with big, big plans. Sick of having been bossed around back when he was nothing more than a simple machine, he's decided that he's going to be giving the orders from now on!

His nasty attitude might be enough to accomplish this on its own, but he's capable of getting muscle for his jobs very quickly. He can fire a small remote control device from his forehead, tipped with a drill that allows it to bore its way into other machines—Transformers included—giving Dirt Boss direct control of their motor functions. And if he really has to get his servos dirty, his stumpy little legs are actually quite capable of delivering a brutal roundhouse. Now he's taken command of the other Constructicons and is going to make sure Detroit knows who's boss!

Isaac Sumdac and Bulkhead were using the forklift that would become Dirt Boss in their space bridge recreation project at Sumdac Tower, but Bulkhead's natural clumsiness sent the forklift, the recently recaptured Headmaster unit, and three Allspark fragments plummeting several floors. While Isaac went to sleep off his scare and Bulkhead went to get help with reinforcing the tower's structural support for the new space bridge, the fallen objects fused together.

I gotta deal you can't-a refuse, icehole!

By the time Bulkhead returned with Mixmaster and Scrapper, who were beginning to come around to the idea of becoming Autobots, Dirt Boss had come to life. Pulled up by Scrapper, the tiny terror immediately used his motor-control power on Scrapper to make him hit himself repeatedly. The three far larger robots were quickly cowed into submission, and Dirt Boss revealed his plan to hijack oil shipments to increase his power base in the city...a plan with which the two Constructicons quickly got on board.

Leading the two on an overnight crime spree (and occasionally beating the Constructicons for drinking the profits), he revealed his plan to torch the Fossil Fuel plant, forcing the city to come to him for oil. Bulkhead attempted to stop them before they left, but that didn't go too well. Bulkhead was dragged to the fuel plant, and eventually Dirt Boss used his motor-control on him, intending him to start a fire that would destroy the plant (sacrificing the bound Mixmaster in the process). The rest of the Autobots arrived, but a stray spark set the spilled oil ablaze anyway. Dirt Boss took control of Mixmaster and Scrapper, who had become stuck together in the fight, and rode them to the top of the oil tower. Fortunately, Sumdac had followed them, carrying the plasma dynamic thruster from their space bridge. Bulkhead reprogrammed the device and transwarped the oil tanker—and the three Constructicons—to just offshore of Dinobot Island just before it exploded. Three's a Crowd

After the blast, Scrapper made it to Dinobot Island and lived there for a few weeks, unsure of what fate had befallen Dirt Boss. Human Error, Part II After the Autobots captured the Decepticons and returned to Cybertron, however, it was revealed that Dirt Boss had also survived, though where he had been was not explained. Hooking back up with Scrapper, Dirt Boss put his two subordinates to work on his newest construction project: building something called "Devastator"... The AllSpark Almanac II

Notes

[edit]
  • Well, it took a while, but anime fans can at last point to an honest-to-gosh reference to the anime [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Gurren Lagann|{{#if:||Gurren Lagann}}]] in Animated: As confirmed by Derrick J. Wyatt over his Twitter feed, Dirt Boss is designed in homage to the small Lagann mecha from the show.
  • Despite having just been created, Dirt Boss manages to have a Decepticon insignia without Megatron's influence. Coincidently, the forklift he was created from was colored in the same colors as Mixmaster and Scrapper after their induction into the Decepticons.
  • Dirt Boss can fire shells from his forehead to control other robots? Sounds familiar...
