Drill Bit is a Gigantion Mini-Con from the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
More of a corkscrew, really.

Drill Bit is the personal attendant to the Gigantion leader Metroplex. As the task of keeping tabs on every project on the planet is monumental enough to dwarf even Metroplex, Drill Bit picks up the slack whenever the bulk's attention is stretched too thin. Most working Mini-Cons report to him instead of Metroplex himself. Drill Bit has a caring spark and is well-liked, but he's no softie, and can hold his own in a scrap if need be. <ref>Drill Bit's profile in Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club #15</ref>

Drill Bit was working with Metroplex at Gigantion's main construction site when Optimus Prime and his team arrived from Cybertron. He detached from Metroplex to greet Six-Speed and the other returning Mini-Cons from the Autobots, and even threw in a few good hugs for their human friends as well. He's a happy guy, that Drill Bit. Giant After Metroplex joined the Autobots, Drill Bit and his partner teamed with Optimus Prime, Vector Prime and the Mini-Cons Fury in taking one of four possible paths deep underground to find the Cyber Planet Key of Giant Planet. City

While exploring the ruins of Gigantion, Drill Bit, Bud Hansen and the other Mini-Cons uncovered a lost Mini-Con city. They also ran into Scourge, who attended Bud's "leadership seminar" with them. Scourge After reaching the Lemuria at the core of Giant Planet, Metroplex was forced to fight the renegade Gigantian Menasor. Their battle ended when Drill Bit and Menasor's Mini-Con Heavy Load lept in the way, forcing their bosses to reach a peaceful resolution. Their efforts were successful, and so Menasor and Heavy Load joined the Autobot effort. Optimus

After the black hole was closed and Galvatron was defeated, Optimus Prime proposed the Transformer worlds restart the space bridge project which their ancestors attempted so many millennia ago. The construction conscious denizens of Gigantion were quick to jump on board the project. Metroplex and Drill Bit assumed command of the starship Lemuria alongside Brimstone, Undermine and Signal Lancer. Drill Bit and the Gigantian Mini-Cons had a brief teary good-bye with Jolt and the Recon Team, who had chosen to remain behind on Earth. Beginning

Dammit, Legacy!
  • Metroplex (Leader-Class, 2005)
Drill Bit transforms into a Cybertronic (Gigantian?) twin-drill machine, using the same general bodyform-engineering as the Armada Leader-1 toy, but the mold is entirely new. In vehicle mode, he can attach to the bucket-shovel portion of Metroplex's "Sparkdrinker" axe, or to any other toy with Mini-Con "Powerlinx"-compatible plugs.
He was only available as a pack-in with the larger Metroplex toy, released first in the fourteenth wave of Takara's Galaxy Force line, and later in the third wave of Hasbro's Cybertron Leader-class toys. There are no notable differences between the two releases.

  • Megalo Convoy Gold Version (Leader-Class, 2005)
An entirely gold-chrome-and-gold-plastic version of Metroplex and Drill Bit was made available as a contest-prize in a currently-unknown Japanese magazine, as part of the same contest as an all-gold version of Master Megatron.
Fifteen Metroplexes in total were awarded.
