"A laser gun just came out of my chest! ...Perhaps it belongs to Hot Shot."

When the power of the Matrix combines with the power of energon, the Energon Blaster may be called forth. The weapon is a token from past leaders of the Autobots.<ref>This information is exclusive to the Super Link version of the cartoon. In Energon, the weapon's origin was completely lost in translation.</ref>

Energon cartoon

[edit]

Under orders from Alpha Q, Starscream lured Optimus Prime to the Moon in order to destroy him. During the battle, Starscream was able to destroy Optimus's drones, leaving him unable to form his Super Mode. Megatron also arrived and severely wounded Optimus. With his mission completed, Alpha Q ordered Starscream to retreat. Megatron, not recognizing that it was Starscream, followed him. Autobots had followed Optimus to the Moon and Skyblast revived Optimus with an infusion of energon. Optimus stood up and his chest opened up and out popped the Energon Blaster. Optimus was shocked to see that it was Hot Shot's blaster, and wondered why Hot Shot was giving it to him. Megatron saw that Optimus Prime was being revived and returned. Optimus took a quick moment to optimize his hard drive, then blasted Megatron into space. Starscream the Mysterious Mercenary

Not long after, Optimus pulled out the same blaster and had Megatron at gunpoint with it. He threatened Megatron with it and told him to stop his plan of resurrecting Unicron. Megatron did not comply and escaped, vowing revenge. Energon Tower

Toys

[edit]
Sadly, these do not store inside the chests of any Energon Optimus Prime figure.

Energon

[edit]
  • Optimus Prime Energon Blaster (role-play)
    • Accessories: Foam Micro Darts (x3)
In real-life, the Energon Blaster fires suction-cup-tipped Nerf Micro Darts. It can also "transform" by extending itself, as seen to the right.
This toy was redecoed into the "Optimus Prime Blaster" in the 2007 movie toyline.

Notes

[edit]
  • This toy was redecoed (possibly retooled) into the Iron Strike Blaster in the non-Transformers toyline, Iron Man 2. Hasbro claims the design of the Iron Strike Blaster was inspired by weapons Iron Man might use, but we know better.
  • The handheld rifle included with Cybertron Leader class Optimus Prime bears significant resemblance to this blaster. Between the major upheaval in the production of Galaxy Force and its meaning being eviscerated in the Energon dub it was never confirmed to *be* the same, but we'd be remiss not to at least mention it considering both Energon and Cybertron Leaders were designed by the same creative team.

Foreign names

[edit]
  • Japanese: Matrix Blaster (マトリクスブラスター Matorikusu Burasutā)
