And there, on the eye socket, was a hook! Ooooooooooh.

As if an almost unbeatable arsenal was not enough, Optimus Prime also has his energon hooks, if he wants to make things more daring in ways that swords can't.

The energon hooks are extended from his forearms in the same manner as the swords.

Fiction

Revenge of the Fallen film

[edit]

To help NEST combat Demolishor, Optimus Prime was sent to Shanghai by plane. Deploying from the plane that was transporting him in vehicle mode, Prime used three parachutes to reach the ground safely, whereupon he cut the parachutes with his energon hooks.

Prime later used the energon hooks again in his attack on Grindor, using them to tear the Decepticon's head apart. Revenge of the Fallen

This Walmart exclusive release of Optimus Prime is the 2010 Transformers toyline "Battle Blades" Optimus Prime toy, released in the United States for the first time with the Japanese release's hooks (instead of swords), among other changes.
This exclusive has a peculiar and common error in that the arm hooks' hubs stick out farther than they should, causing a gap that runs down the middle of the cab's nose in vehicle mode.
