A field trip to a distant planet goes awry when the team accidentally interfere with the local wildlife.
Synopsis
[edit]Medix observes the Horsehead Nebula through Perceptor's scope, however the recruits are interrupted by the arrival of some sheep, let loose thanks to Hot Shot leaving the gate to the next field open. Perceptor reminds them they should leave things as they find them, so the recruits set about working out how to return the sheep to their field. Despite Medix quickly becoming cornered by the sheep, the recruits manage to shepherd the flock back into captivity. They return to star gazing and Perceptor reveals the real field trip — they're headed to the planet Sifrolicous-5 to find out why it appears to change colors when viewed.
The recruits fly to the planet in the Sigma and Hoist immediately finds a life form not unlike a pig which he dubs a mudlubber. Whirl and Medix take to the sky and soon spot the cause of the color change: the planet has a perpetual tidal wave of water moving around it. Hot Shot realizes this means the mudlubbers are in danger of being washed away by the oncoming deluge and the recruits start coming up with plans.
The recruits build a protective wall of mud, only to discover that the mudlubbers keep disregarding their efforts and running towards the wall of water. They manage to round up the mudlubbers, but discover too late that they've missed one. The lost mudlubber is swallowed up by the sudden rush of water, and abruptly transforms, sprouting wings and taking to the air. Finally realizing that the mudlubbers are perfectly adapted to the conditions, the recruits work to break down the wall they've created, allowing the rest of the mudlubbers to also transform. Perceptor arrives via space bridge and congratulates them on the lesson they've learned, and says they can play on the mud slide Hot Shot's found.

Continuity errors
[edit]- When viewing the Horsehead Nebula from Earth through Perceptor's microscope mode, Medix says, "I don't think I've ever seen it so clearly!" However, Medix also observed the Horsehead Nebula in the earlier episode "The Empty City", in which he and Hoist used Hero Hall's live star chart projection to see the nebula up close and personal. And yet, that episode did feel like it was Medix's first time ever seeing the nebula, as it was Hoist who introduced it to him, making Medix's statement in this episode even more weird.

Trivia
[edit]- Hoist is ticklish.
- Cybertronian text on Whirl's HUD as she scans the wall reads "MISSION" and "DETECTING ACTIVITY".
- If Perceptor is able to travel to the planet using the space bridge, why do the recruits use the Sigma?
