Beast Wars: Uprising

[edit]

The group that came to be known as the Ex-Bots formed when three groups collided in Proximax. A Resistance cell led by Magmatron was attacking a convoy of Constructicons taking Snapper to Iacon. In the brawl, Buckethead found herself attacked by Rampage, and let Snapper go in the hopes he would go after him and not her, which he didn't. However, Snapper ran into the former Maximal Command Security Force officer Overshoot, who had been guided to the scene by mysterious visions saying Snapper was needed for some unknown purpose. Confronting Rampage, who was facing off against Overshoot's partner Stiletto, the foul-tempered crab-bot decided to destroy the bridge all five of them were on, sending them plummeting into the depths of Cybertron. Awakening, the set nearly resumed their fight, until Overshoot told them to knock it off, on the grounds there was some greater threat they needed to deal with. His attempts to get everyone to break the ice led to Buckethead sarcastically dub them "Ex-Bots". At Overshoot's prompting, they continued down, exploring further abandoned strata of Cybertronian cities, until they reached absolute bottom, their destination and the source of Overshoot's visions; the ancient supercomputer called the Oracle. It gave Overshoot another vision, and a warning about the "spawn of Antares", who threatened Cybertron and humanity's future. The others were dubious, until Snapper recalled his old Resistance cell had traded info on humanity with a group called the "Antares Eight". Realizing the threat was real, they made their way back to the surface, to find and stop it. Though they quickly did, discovering the aliens had seized a trans-hyperwave caster tower, Stiletto was captured and Overshoot killed by the aliens, while Rampage managed to escape with Snapper and Buckethead by leaping over the side of a very long drop. Their apparent failure demoralized Buckethead, until Rampage revealed himself to be less dead than she assumed. Snapper hit upon the idea of fetching their comrades to take the fight back to the eight, while he went to rescue Stiletto.

As Buckethead gathered up the other Constructicons, Rampage managed to persuade Magmatron to assist, after dealing with the unpleasant Archadis, the Resistance imposed second-in command, first. Elsewhere, Snapper rescued Stiletto from the lair of the alien cyborgs. Unknown to them, they were assisted by Overshoot, who persisted after death as a ghost, able to provide Stiletto hints. The Constructicons and Magmatron's crew arrived at the tower and fought the Antares Eight, and despite some difficulty, including the introduction of their ally, the combiner Monsterous, they persisted and took out the remaining members of the Eight, save Creepy, who'd remained inside the tower with the trap intended for the approaching humans. With assistance from Overshoot, Stiletto was able to avoid the trap and kill him, and the humans left without incident. In the aftermath, the ragtag allies gathered in Sights & Sounds to discuss what to do next. Rampage was very clear he would not allow Snapper to be taken anywhere against his will, along with the fact he preferred being with the "Ex-Bots" over fighting Lio Convoy's war. The Constructicons, meanwhile, were uncertain whether the alliance was a one-time thing or a long-term arrangement. Buckethead stated her inclusion, and after a moment the other Constructicons agreed. Magmatron's cell agreed, especially after learning from their chief the whys of Snapper's imprisonment, save for Archadis and the meek Sling, who returned to the Resistance. With their departure, Stiletto declared the Ex-Bots founded, but the mood changed when Jackpot revealed the Maximal Command Security Force had just announced to the whole world it had gone independent and annexed a swath of territory they were naming the "Maximal Nation".
