Two scientists working in the laboratory developed electro-cells, a new and powerful energy source, but had not yet had time to stabilise their new invention when Skywarp broke through the laboratory roof. The scientists' warnings that the electro-cells were unstable and could cause a chain reaction, destroying the Earth, probably just made Megatron even more eager to have them. After ripping the electro-cells out of the laboratory, despite the two scientists clinging to it, Megatron had Starscream fire into the building a few times, to ensure that no further cells could be built. The building remained intact long enough for the Decepticon leader to give the order to return to base. Traitor

The two scientists clutched onto their invention as Megatron lifted it up. Somehow they managed to avoid injury after falling off it, despite a not-insignificant fall onto a metal surface, and were able to flee the building before it was destroyed.

After the electro-cells were destroyed, Optimus Prime personally apologized to the two scientists, but they understood the action was necessary to save the Earth from destruction.
