The Monstercons Fangry and Squeezeplay were teamed with Demolishor on routine patrol when their tank partner suddenly changed the mission to scout a "hidden laboratory" he recently discovered. The distrustful Fangry was forced to go along with Squeezeplay, whose dedication to duty prevented him from questioning their superior officer. The Monstercons were then captured by Demolishor and his associates, Side Burn and Jetstorm, who were all actually Transformium constructs in the service of the Underbase.

In his experiments on organic-mechanical interfaces, Demolishor had created Robot Master technology that allowed humans to be rebuilt as cyborgs and control Cybertronians as an integrated part of them. Fangry was forced into a binary bonding with Donnie Finkleberg. The Robot Masters were then betrayed in turn by Demolishor, however, who merely needed hybrid beings to power his masters' gateway between dimensions. Fangry and Squeezeplay were eventually freed by Emulator and the crew of the Annex, separating from the Robot Masters as well. Coalescence
