Optimus Prime and Megatron part ways.
Synopsis
[edit]A while ago, before Megatron led the Decepticons in invading Metropolis...
Optimus Prime and Megatron are coordinators of the operation of Cloud World, vanguard of the Spacetime World. The two are clashing in the central square of Metropolis, over how to conduct their mission in collecting energy across the various spacetimes under their watch. While Optimus simply seeks to maintain the current procedure of gathering only what is necessary to maintain the survival of Cloud World, Megatron feels this is an arbitrary limit on themselves: the strong take from the weak. That is what they already do, and any belief otherwise is hypocritical idealism. Optimus vehemently disagrees, for they must maintain the balance of worlds. Going further without even fully understanding SARA risks destroying their own world.
With neither willing to abandon their ideals, Megatron attempts to pull a killing blow on his former comrade, but the Autobot manages to dodge the sword and take down the traitor with a blast to his leg. The fallen robot is told to leave and never return. Did Optimus do the right thing in giving Megatron mercy, or was it naivete that would lead to greater conflict? Regardless of the answer to that question, this tale is passed down in Cloud World as a victory of justice.
