Those are the tightest briefs. I checked. --ItsWalky 23:30, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

For reference (in case someone's worried) the pic is for a sandbox draft on homosexuality.
(I don't particularly think the wiki's ever gonna make the page live, but it's worth pecking at.)
If anyone wants to make a page for the Chevy Gay Day at the Movies:ROTF promotion, by all means, go ahead! -Derik 23:33, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
As this appears to be a Chevy only thing and not a Hasbro thing, I'm disinclined to say it should get a page. --M Sipher 23:34, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
>implying homosexuality is a Chevy thing
Anyway, the ads were allowed to use Hasbro trademarks such as the Autobot symbol, so it apparently falls under their partnership with Hasbro. -Derik 23:39, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
Which explains the complete and utter lack of any Hasbro trademark information on the ad, plus the fact that none of the cars are referred to by their character names. --M Sipher 23:50, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
But using Hasbro trademarks without permission would be improper! Are you suggesting Chevrolet broke the law? -Derik 00:05, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

Also— if anyone knows where to find a video of the commercial I'd... appreciate it. (Apparently you can see the Bumblebee Transformers mask and sign for the promotion in some shots.) -Derik 23:35, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

Found a copy of the ad on a webcast talking about it. There's a shot of the Bumble Bee Boys with a sign for the Gay Day and wearing a bumblebee costume helmet... but the existing shot is much more flattering. -Derik 03:16, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

Deletion

[edit]

I'm sorry, this didn't appear to have undergone any formal deletion discussion. (in fact I don't recall any suggestion that it should be deleted at all.)

Could I be provided an official justification for this action? The sandbox page in the User namespace it was destined for looks awfully strange without it. -Derik 00:18, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

May I also add-- Colleen Porch if it may be relevant to the answer? -Derik 00:21, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

WE GET IT. YOU ARE GAY. THAT HAS BEEN WELL ESTABLISHED. We don't need images of boys in tight underthings on the wiki just so you can go HEY LOOK AT ME GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY. Try doing helpful things instead. And posting about what looks for all the world to be a NON-HASBRO-SPONSORED EVENT is not part of it. --M Sipher 00:36, 13 June 2011 (EDT)

Oh, so your objection was the bottom half of the image? That's fine. Can I repost the top-half? My sandbox page looks bare without a main image.
Also, this wasn't a "HEY LOOK AT ME, I'M GA^33Y" page. With what appears to be 2 gay Transformers at this point the absence of any reference to this on the relationships page is kinda conspicuous. The draft page I'm working on explicitly focuses on the absence of any in-canon information on this subject and elides over the question of gay Transformers (which is an Authorial intent issue,) the wiki gets to ignore that issue (which I really think we don't want to deal with) without being accused of whitewashing the existence of homosexuality. It serves multiple purposes, if the draft be adopted.
Also implying I'm a flaming mincing bitch by way of dismissing my question is seriously uncool. If I ever meet you at BotCon I expect you to buy me a drink by way of apology. (Your presence for that drink being extremely optional.) -Derik 00:54, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
Derik, you have a history of putting ridiculously inappropriate things on the wiki and you gave this sandbox a name which clearly marks it as "Derik's Sexytime". You're not going to make anyone feel guilty about questioning your intentions here. Chip 01:35, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
Pfft. It's a placeholder name.
Also, what sort of ridiculously inappropriate stuff? (I know I have, I'm just drawing a blank here.) My memory for that sort of thing is shit, so a reminder would be helpful; keeps me mindful not to be a db. -Derik 01:44, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
Do you mean the Romance article with "relationships page"? Because it has a full section devoted to orientation and explains why Tfs are so heteronormative despite the 1:10 female:male balance. It also deals with the fact there's more than two officially gay TFs and that one of them (Sunstreaker) is in another continuity straight/bi/pan/whatever makes him go gaga over Junko's hair's scent. It's in need of a small update, but should otherwise seem to be what you say it is lacking. Geewunling 03:17, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
Well there you go... the page in question post-dates my last period of highly active wiki editorship, so I didn't realize it had been broken out.
I still don't like how the Reproduction/Relationships pages are structured... they've sprawled a bit with info being added here-and-there. Maybe I should work on a cleanup. (That or "Beast Wars in the Unicron Trilogy.") -Derik 19:02, 13 June 2011 (EDT)
