Fire-retardant foam is a foam used to retard fires. It is also among the mightiest weapons known to Transformer kind. Even across the generations, the legendary power of fire-retardant foam may be slightly diminished, but it is still to be feared and respected.

It is sometimes dispensed from fire extinguishers.

Inferno was armed with an extinguisher rifle that could shoot a stream of flame-suppressing foam, and also stop beams of various types of electromagnetic radiation with its own energy-damping beam. Inferno's Universe profile

When the Autobots were disabled by a Decepticon sneak attack, Spike prompted the Autobot computer Teletraan I to release fire-retardant foam. The foam landed on the Decepticons and immediately shorted out their circuitry. Recognizing this unbeatable foe, Megatron ordered an immediate retreat. The Ultimate Doom, Part 1

The Autobot Ironhide was also capable of releasing the substance, among other compounds, from a nozzle embedded in his wrist. That guy could shoot just about anything. Why he never used its almighty power to annihilate the Decepticons once and for all is not known.

Fire of the Rescue Patrol Team could release fire-retardant foam in his fire truck mode, and indeed did so to save some human oil refinery workers when they were held captive by Kakuryu. However, the march of technological advancement had clearly robbed the foam of its former potency, as the dim-witted Dinoforce soldier was merely incapacitated, despite both the soldier and his Pretender shell being absolutely covered in the stuff. He reported to his commander Goryu of the substance causing a stinging sensation in his eyes, which his fellow Decepticon was unsympathetic about, commanding Kakuryu to scrub it off. Crisis! After Predacon Inferno set a bush ablaze in a sneak attack on the Maximals, Tigatron released fire-retardant foam from his gut gun to extinguish the flame. Law of the Jungle

Inferno's rifle could shoot a fire-extinguishing foam, as well as an energy-dampening ray that diminished the effectiveness of beam-based attacks. Optimus Prime made use of it as one of his weapons, and it proved capable of debilitating even a mighty Decepticon or two.
