When Germain's career came to an end, he gave his famous race car to Road King, and sure enough, its strange ability to survive any damage it suffered soon had Road King winning race after race, earning him a formidable reputation all his own. Germain, meanwhile, retired to the small French village of Dagneux, where he ran a restaurant and bar.

On the hunt for the remaining Godmasters that were scattered across the Earth, the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors were not having much success and were poised to give up the whole venture until Wilder stumbled across an article about Germain and his supernaturally durable car. Suspecting that the car could be a Godmaster Transtector, Wilder led the Juniors to Dagneux, where they attempted to strong-arm Germain into giving them information about the car. Germain's arm proved stronger, as he was able to unfeasibly overpower the three punks and eject them from his bar. The Juniors didn't take the defeat well, and soon returned to Dagneux in their Transtectors, whereupon they began razing the village.

Simultaneously, at F1 World Grand Prix, Road King was approached by the other Autobot Godmasters, who had also learned of his car's strange powers, and had come to the same conclusion. Their suspicions proved correct, as they gave Road King a pair of Master-Braces and discovered that he was, indeed, the fourth Autobot Godmaster. Just as this discovery was made, Ranger contacted the group to inform them of the Decepticon Juniors' attack on Dagneux, and Road King immediately raced to the village, fearing for his mentor's safety. He arrived at Germain's bar and was relieved to see that he was all right, but the Decepticon Juniors had spotted his car driving through the village and followed him back to the bar, forcing him to transform and battle them. Amazed at the sight of his old car transforming into a giant robot, Germain watched as Road King and the other Autobots defeated the Juniors and the Seacons they summoned up. When the fighting was done, Road King introduced the other Autobots to Germain, who proposed a toast to celebrate Road King's victory in the F1 Grand Prix, and his first victory in battle as an Autobot.
