The Heuck Nigoghossian telescope is housed in the Kauai Naval Observatory in Hawaii. Its primary lens has a tracking device in it.

Decepticons broke into the observatory and stole the Heuck Nigoghossian telescope's main lens. Agent Fowler notified the Autobots of the theft, and they were able to use the lens's tracking device to find the Decepticons in the Arctic. Starscream had already made the lens part of a heat ray, which he was using to melt a glacier so he could access an energon deposit under it. Unfortunately the heat ray and the lens in question were destroyed during the battle. Out of His Head
