Highjump is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
"Don't make me clench this fist. Nobody wants Mr. Fisty to come out and play."

Asking Highjump to stick to the rules is like asking water to run uphill. He's the most "cloak and dagger" of the Off Road Patrol, happily ignoring battle protocol whenever it's convenient, especially on those missions that Autobot command never sanctioned in the first place. One would think that this puts him at odds with his by-the-books Patrol leader Powertrain, but the two actually get along very well. Highjump's infiltration skills are beyond question, and he does the regrettable dirty work that sometimes needs to be done to make a mission succeed.<ref>More than Meets the Eye #3</ref>

Marvel The Transformers comics

[edit]

Highjump and the Off Road Patrol were created on Cybertron as the first wave of Micromasters. They developed a taste for insubordination however, which may have been part of the reason Emirate Xaaron agreed to send them to Earth instead, as reinforcements for Optimus Prime's diminished army aboard the Ark. Not in a position to turn away free troops after many of his own had recently fallen, Prime accepted the Micromasters and informed them on a pair of recent news reports involving giant creatures spotted in the New Jersey swamps and unusual storm activity consolidating over Manhattan. Believing there was a Decepticon link between the stories, the Off-Road Patrol took to the swamps to seek out any clues. When Mudslinger found the Decepticon Pretenders running a weather-control device, the alerted his teammates and the battle was joined. Highjump and Tote used a trip-line to send Skullgrin flying, and the weather machine was destroyed. Unfortunately, the forces of nature were too far along to stop, and the storm itself continued to rage. Luckily, the Race Car Patrol were able to stop the Decepticons from collecting the storm's energies in the Big Apple, foiling their plot utterly. After the mission's completion, the Micromasters regrouped at the base of the Empire State Building, where Optimus offered to pick them up, so they could avoid any trouble from the local law enforcement agents. The Micromasters refused Optimus's help, preferring to instead act as an independent unit and deal with such matters their own way. King Con!

Having saved Manhattan from destruction, the Micromasters became local celebrities and vigilantes, helping to clean up the streets. When Roadhandler of the Race Cars got to be too popular as a pro wrestler (long story), Zarak of the Decepticons tried to take him down a peg, sending the Decepticon Micromaster Air Strike Patrol to kidnap his fan club before a big match against Storm Cloud. Highjump and Tailspin managed to intervene and safely escort them to the match. The Interplanetary Wrestling Championship!

The Battle of the Star Gate

[edit]

Highjump was amongst the Autobots who once more confronted Megatron and his Decepticons at the Trigger in Earth orbit. When Starscream combined himself with the Trigger to create a powerful new body for himself, Highjump had to contend with the volley of asteroids thrown towards both Autobots and Decepticons from Starscream's star gate. He was then almost sucked into a portal to a black hole when Starscream neared defeat, but was instead sent plummeting down to Earth when Optimus and Megatron worked together to defeat Starscream. When Victory Saber initiated the "Zone Project", the Off Road Patrol helped rebuild planet Micro into the new and improved planet Zone. To counter this threat, Violengiguar began conquering worlds to build his own Decepticon Zone. All the Micromaster teams, including the Off Road Patrol, were then mobilized to patrol the galaxy, specifically planets where their special abilities would be most useful. Early on, the Off Road Patrol were sent to scout a rocky, mountainous planet. Zone Part 1

Later, King Poseidon and Trypticon were sent to conquer the aquatic world of Wall. The Off Road Patrol engaged them in battle and with the help of Commanders Overload, Erector, Missile Bull, and Skywave, they emerged triumphant. Zone Part 3

The Transformers

[edit]

  • Off Road Patrol (Micromaster Patrol, 1988/1990)
  • Takara ID number: C-335
Released in the sixth year of Hasbro's US Transformers toyline (fifth year in European markets), Highjump transforms into a grey Land Rover Ninety with a roof-mounted winch. Highjump is gang molded with his teammate Tote, sharing the same plastic colors.
He was only available in a four-pack with his teammates Mudslinger, Powertrain, and Tote.
Together with the Air Strike Patrol and the Race Car Patrol, the Off Road Patrol was released by Hasbro in late 1988 (basically, a case of "next year product" being released at the end of the old year), in packaging that differed from the "proper" 1989 Micromasters' redesigned packaging (silver cards and boxes featuring an all-new "Transformers" logo) by retaining a variation of the faction-specific color-coded gradient background on the card and featuring a unique "Micro Transformers" title in a variation of the old, pre-1989 "Transformers" logo. This same basic packaging design was also used for Canada (albeit bilingual English/French) and parts of Europe (bilingual French/Dutch, and Italian-only packaging distributed by GiG). However, a variant of sorts featuring the later 1989 packaging design also exists, and was released (in English-only packaging) in the United Kingdom, where it was sold at Woolworth's stores.
The "Off Road Patrol Team" was sold in Japan a year later as part of Takara's Zone portion of the Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers series, with no notable changes from their Hasbro releases.

  • Autobot Powertrain & Highjump (Micromaster, 2019)
  • Hasbro ID number: WFC-S33
  • TakaraTomy ID number: SG-33
  • TakaraTomy release date: October 26, 2019
Part of the fourth wave of Siege Micromasters, this new toy of Highjump transforms from robot to "Cybertronian" "armored car" (mm-hmm), plus he has a third "weapon" mode, usable by other toys via 5 mm post.
He was only available in a two-pack with Powertrain; the two can combine into a weapon for larger Siege figures to wield. Due to inside of the hole in his chest being painted, the connection can be rather tight.
Highjump was later retooled into Ricon.

    • Wave 4: War for Cybertron: Siege II
    • Rarity: CT
    • Card Number: T19/T52
    • Stars: 4
Private Highjump, Off-Road Patrol-Infiltration is one of forty-eight double-sided character cards available in Wave 3 of the Transformers Trading Card Game, War for Cybertron: Siege I. In order to represent Highjump's size as a Micromaster, Private Highjump, Off-Road Patrol-Infiltration is the size of a battle card, about half the size of a normal character card.
The card's artwork is based on the Siege Highjump toy, with the Alt Mode artwork being reused from the toy's packaging art, and original Bot Mode art with lines by Andrew Griffith.
