Marvel The Transformers comics

[edit]

They were originally low-life criminals from the planet Ghennix. When Ghennix was destroyed by Unicron, the criminals attempted to flee in a small spaceship, but Unicron prevented their escape.

Instead of killing the criminals, Unicron reformatted them into three powerful assassins, whom he named Hook, Line, and Sinker. Each was given new weapons: Hook has a hook on one of his hands and a harpoon on the other, Line carries a sword and a net, and Sinker has two massive steel balls at the end of his arms. All Fall Down

Hook, Line, and Sinker's first mission was to fetch Galvatron from an alternate timeline, where the Decepticons had defeated the Autobots circa 2009. Galvatron was leading the Pretender Monsters onto a final victory march into New York City, when Hook, Line, and Sinker captured him and brought him to Unicron's timeframe, circa 1991. Rhythms of Darkness! The Human Factor!

They attended to the furious Galvatron as he was brought before Unicron. Eye of the Storm Unicron intended Galvatron to serve as his chief assassin and Hook, Line, and Sinker to serve as Galvatron's aides. The four powerful creations assaulted Autobase. Surrender! But, when Galvatron met Emirate Xaaron deep under the surface of Cybertron, he rebelled against Unicron and (at least apparently) sided with Xaaron instead. Through a psychic link, Unicron was immediately aware of this treachery, and sent Hook, Line, and Sinker to kill Galvatron. They failed, and Galvatron destroyed Line and Sinker instead. Hook was killed by a Primus-possessed Emirate Xaaron shortly after. Out of Time!

Notes

[edit]
  • Hook, Line, and Sinker are named after the angling-inspired idiom "hook, line, and sinker". It means "[tricked] completely", as if the fish hasn't just swallowed the hook as intended, but went the extra mile of getting caught by also swallowing the line and the sinker.
  • Although Hook, Line, and Sinker have never been represented as toys per se, the Club exclusive toy of Astrotrain from the Unicron Trilogy includes three Mini-Cons named Astro-Hook, Astro-Line, and Astro-Sinker. However, they do not have any apparent connection to Unicron, or at least not more than any other Mini-Con in that continuity family.
