Optimus Prime teaches his reluctant Autobots the fine art of Dinobot riding.

Synopsis

[edit]

Optimus Prime leads his Autobots through a Chinese forest. He has not yet told his troops why he has brought them to this location, but they are all confident in his leadership and have no cause to question his motives—though they soon begin to rethink things when Prime reveals that they have come here to learn how to ride the Dinobots! While the other Autobots cower, Hound bounds into action, marching up to Slash and instructing him to do as he says. It doesn't go well, as the Dinobot hurls him away, over the heads of his watching comrades. Bumblebee figures that bossiness isn't going to do the job, so he tries offering the Dinobots a snack of nuts and bolts, which goes down a little too well; he is almost crushed by the giant 'bots as they gobble up the treats, but is pulled to safety by the flying Strafe. Figuring the dino is friendly, Bumblebee climbs up onto his back, but Strafe doesn't take too kindly to the show of familiarity, and sends 'Bee tumbling back to the ground below. Drift and Crosshairs, meanwhile, have successfully managed to saddle up on Slug and Scorn without any trouble, so Optimus to order them to try a combat scenario, albeit with the warning not to be overconfident. They deploy the Dinobots' weapons and charge each other, but at the last second, the crafty, grinning dinos screech to halt, hurling their riders forward so they clonk their heads together. When Hound points out that Prime hasn't done any riding yet, Prime explains he's already an expert, but his boast is blunted when Grimlock unexpectedly flips him up onto his back and takes off at speed. Prime yells back that Grimlock has the scent of attacking Decepticons, and orders the other Autobots to mount their prehistoric steeds and RIDE OUT!

Notes

[edit]
  • This comedic 8-page comic was released in the US as an online freebie through Hasbro.com. It is done in the same cartoonish style as the How to Ride Your Dinobot series of web cartoons.
  • The Autobots and Dinobots are paired off as they were in the film and toyline, with the exception of the new match-up of Hound and Slash.
    • Slash was originally going to be featured in Age of Extinction, but was eventually cut from the final film. This comic seems to imply that had Slash appeared, he would have paired up with Hound, who was the only Autobot in the final movie to not have a Dinobot partner. Concept art indicates that multiple, small by Dinobot standards Slash's would've appeared, so it probably would've been pretty amusing to see the fat ballerina try to ride a Dinobot he probably massively dwarfed!

Errors

[edit]
  • The comic's PDF file name is written "TF_How_to_Rid_Your_Dinobot_Comic" instead of "Ride".

Real-life references

[edit]
  • When Hound is thrown by Slash, he utters Goofy's yell. YEEAH-HA-HOOWIE!
