Megatron sent the Air Strike Patrol on a mission to MacDill Air Force Base, where they captured the B-204 refueling plane while James Campbell was presenting it to the press. Then the Autobots inevitably arrived to defend against the Decepticons. Back from the Dead James Campbell was irritated at the humans being used as leverage by the Decepticons against the Autobots and formulated a plan of his own.

His soldiers set up smoke bombs, allowing the humans in attendance to flee while the Autobots and Decepticons fought. When Optimus Prime threw a Decepticon far too close to the escaping humans, Campbell chewed out the Autobot leader for endangering people. The Resurrection Gambit!
