Henderson and Spike first met at the United States Naval Academy. Only Forward

Completely incapable of bringing it.

After the Autobot leader Optimus Prime surrendered himself to Skywatch, Henderson observed Spike's fruitless attempts to interrogate their prisoner. He was of the opinion that coercing Prime to talk was not needed, as Skywatch would simply take the alien elsewhere and take whatever information they wanted out of him. Acting on a hunch that Prime's surrender would put the Autobots in disarray, Spike ordered Henderson to put Pennington and Campolongo's team on alert for Autobots that may be wandering around. A Rude Awakening A week later, Henderson listened as Spike aired his concerns about having little to show since Optimus Prime surrendered himself and tried to convince him otherwise when Witwicky admitted his insecurities about his leadership. Seasons in Flight

After Spike had an enlightening chat with Optimus Prime, Henderson reported the schedule for the next meeting with the Skywatch generals and watched his commander leave in Breakdown, who had been commandeered as Spike's personal transport. Enemies of the System After rescuing Spike from a river after he was attacked by the rest of the Stunticons, Henderson and Campolongo discovered that the Stunticons had combined into the titanic combiner Menasor and was currently attacking the Autobots. Henderson was shocked to see another combiner, as he hadn't seen once since Devastator attacked New York City. Returning to base, Spike convinced Optimus Prime to get out of his funk and help Skywatch assist the Autobots in fighting Menasor. Though the other Skywatch personnel objected to Spike unilaterally freeing their prisoner, Henderson backed him up and piloted the aerial transport. Before they left, however, Henderson remarked that he hoped Spike knew what he was doing. Earthworks

After the Autobots had unofficially allied themselves with Skywatch, Henderson and Spike took part in a martial arts exercise that saw the former get his ass handed to him. Henderson joked that Witwicky could at least pretend that beating up his friends was the worst part of his job, to which Spike remarked that if he didn't beat him up every now and then, there would be talk of mutiny. In the mess Campolongo dubbed Henderson "Glass Joe", ribbing which escalated in horseplay, sending both of them crashing through a glass wall. Spike told them to save that energy for the field and to clean up the mess. Scrapper

When North Korea-backed Combaticons attacked American and South Korean forces along the Korean DMZ, Henderson reported to Spike about the details of how many Combaticons they think are operational and how much energon North Korea was producing for their new muscle, but considering Skywatch's lack of understanding of the Cybertronian race, it's still conjecture and guesswork. However, Henderson noted that they couldn't have picked a better time, given the Autobots were now allies, which in turn gave Spike his idea to intervene in the conflict. The Land Ironclads However, due to the President of the United States' proclamation that any nation employing Cybertronians were considered to be using weapons of mass destruction and would be dealt with accordingly, Spike and his team were forced to rely upon subterfuge and launch the mission in secret, with the Autobots in disguise. Arriving in Incheon, South Korea, Campolongo tried to bluff their way past a customs official by posing as stevedores, but failed given the rushed nature of their mission and the lack of preparation. When Spike berated them for their failure, Henderson protested that he had to learn how to operate a crane in twenty hours, and using a crane normally required a team of fifteen. During the battle in the city, Henderson and Campolongo deployed from Optimus Prime's trailer in Skywatch crash suits, but failed to stop Brawl from escaping due to the Combaticon insulation against Skywatch suppressors... and the fact the Decepticon turned into a tank. During their better-prepared attack on the Combaticons, Henderson and Campolongo, in their crash suits, held Vortex down while Ratchet attempted to cut off his rotor blades. The Decepticon slipped out of their grasp, but luckily the former Decepticon Thundercracker arrived to shoot him out of the sky. Hawk Among the Sparrows

The battle was eventually won and Henderson and the others began returning home, but were shot down over the Pacific Ocean. The humans survived by staying in Optimus Prime's trailer, which could manufacture oxygen and was fairly waterproof. Once they reached the US two days later, Henderson checked a distress signal coming from their Albuquerque base and found a message from Megatron coded into it. Burning Chrome Together with Spike and Campolongo he later visited Pennington in the hospital. Enemy Mine

When a couple of other Autobots arrived on Earth, Henderson and Spike met their giant alien pal, Garnak. Orphans of the Helix
