Kranix was a scientist who examined the Dark Spark while various groups, such as the Disciples of the Thirteen and his own Patterners, debated its nature and ultimate fate. He was one of many such investigators to disappear mysteriously, only to resurface as the mind-controlled slaves of the turncoat Crystal Guardian Jhiaxus. Rise of the Dark Spark

• Kranix is never explicitly called a Patterner; however, he is identified as one of many scientists who have gone mysteriously missing, and later Jhiaxus is accused of having enslaved a large number of missing Patterners.
