Krimol barnacles naturally line the walls of caves on the planet Krimol. They lie quietly in wait for prey, extending powerful tentacles whenever they hear a loud noise.

As the recruits searched for Hoist in a cave on Krimol, their calls triggered nearby barnacles to attack. Whirl had already realized the danger and was able to tickle the tentacles in order to get them to release her friends. The recruits eventually found Hoist and utilized the tentacles in order to escape the cave — by triggering the tentacles, they found they could use the barnacles as a slingslot to fling themselves upwards.
