The seasonal refreshes of the Japanese Generation 1 franchise produced a multitude of smaller cartoons. They include:

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers, consisted of the first two seasons of the US Generation 1 cartoon. In addition to several of the episodes being substantially re-ordered (and heavily edited for time), two were not aired, and nine additional clip shows were created for the series.
"Scramble City: Mobilization"

An additional [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Original Video Animation|{{#if:OVA special|OVA special|Original Video Animation}}]] was produced as a spin-off of Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers. Released directly to home video in April 1986, the special acted as something of a bridge between the American season 2 and 3 material, introducing a hefty slate of characters ahead of their Transformers 2010 appearances in lieu of the 1986 movie (more on that below.)

Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 consisted of all thirty episodes from the third season of the Generation 1 animated series, plus two newly created clip shows.

Transformers: The Headmasters ignored the final three episodes of the US cartoon and began its own unique story. Rather than the US cartoons' characterization of the newly-introduced Headmasters and Targetmasters, where the respective partners were the organic Nebulons from the planet Nebulos that binary-bonded to existing Transformers, The Headmasters took a much different approach, where the Headmasters and Targetmasters were miniscule Transformers from the colony world, Master, that combined with transtector vehicles to form regular-sized—sometimes larger—robots.
"Season 4" - Transformers: Super-God Masterforce

Disrupting the developed pattern of the overarching franchise as a whole, Transformers: Super-God Masterforce loosely followed on from where The Headmasters left off, following an all-new cast of characters, and featured new locations. Originally perceived by Western audiences to be a stand-alone series to a certain extent, the series actually featured several references and callbacks to The Headmasters sprinkled throughout, with Chromedome even getting a brief cameo and the Trainbots appearing visually in the opening sequence. To help aid in the connection of the two series, the concurrently released Master File promotional booklets helped to explain elements not covered by the cartoon, and helped establish where The Headmasters' cast was during the cartoon's events.
Much like The Headmasters, Super-God Masterforce takes elements from the simultaneous US fiction/toyline and flips it 180°, with the Nebulan/Nebulon Powermasters being swapped out for the human Godmasters (described as the perfect fusion of Transformer and human). Following on from The Headmasters, characters of the Headmaster and Godmaster variety utilized non-sentient transtectors that doubled as transport—only this time, they were utilized by organic partners, instead of miniscule Transformers. The series also made use of the Pretenders, but the way they functioned was almost exactly like their US counterparts.
"Season 5" - Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Victory

The Transformers: Zone cartoon consisted of a single one-episode OVA, due to Transformers' declining popularity in Japan in the late-1980s.
Additional releases
[edit]The remaining chunks of the Generation 1 cartoon did eventually see releases in Japanese markets, albeit in a limited capacity divorced from the larger franchise:
1989 - Transformers: The Movie

While an accounting of its events was delivered to Japanese audiences in its proper sequence via the 2010 story pages, the actual film did not make its way to Japanese shores until it received a very limited charity screening and subsequent home video release in the fall of 1989.
1996 - Transformers: The Rebirth

The very belated release of the final season of the American cartoon occurred straight-to-video in 1996, a whole four years after the wrap of the Japanese Generation 1 franchise's original run. It included almost none of the original cast reprising their roles. The Rebirth would go on to finally receive proper television broadcast in 2007.
