Makeshift is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.
If he says "pull my finger", you'll explode.

Like his teammates on the Emergency Mini-Con Team, Makeshift throws himself wholeheartedly into his search-and-rescue operations. However, unlike his somewhat emotionally-needy ally Prowl, Makeshift seems completely selfless in his duty, not even seeking verbal praise for his works. When he's not helping people, he's learning more methods of helping people... be those people mechanical or organic.

Though he's not much for battle, he's seemingly indispensable on the battlefield, thanks not only to his ability to tend to the injured quickly and competently, but because of his sharp mind and improvisational skills in a tight spot. If Makeshift has a fault, it's that his desire to save seems to extend even to his enemies; he will only fight in self-defense, and even then he'd rather scare attackers away without hurting them.

Fiction

Dreamwave Armada comic

[edit]

Makeshift was one of the many Mini-Cons who gathered on Earth in preparation for the trip back to Cybertron and the battle with the chaos-bringer Unicron. Presumably, he joined Over-Run at the Loop, where the Mini-Cons channeled their energies through the Mini-Con Matrix and dealt the fatal blow to Unicron. The End

[edit]

In Aurex 606.0 Kappa, the Emergency Mini-Con Team successfully aided Red Alert, Longarm, Smokescreen, and Jolt in a battle against the Decepticons Landslide, Drench, and Wind Sheer. Afterwards, however, Unicron suddenly abducted Red Alert and Firebot. Ask Vector Prime, 2015/09/14

  • Emergency Mini-Con Team (Mini-Con 3-pack, 2003)
  • Takara ID number: MM-20
  • Takara release date: September 11, 2003
  • Known designers: Shogo Hasui (Takara){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Armada Makeshift transforms into a tilt-rotor helicopter similar to an [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey|{{#if:Osprey|Osprey|Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey}}]]. He also has a third "weapon mode" transformation, becoming a double gatling-cannon.
As a Mini-Con, he has a "Powerlinx" socket on the underside of his vehicle mode that allows him to attach to larger toys with compatible Powerlinx plugs, activating special gimmicks on the larger toys when attached to a "live" plug.
He was normally only available in a three-pack with his teammates Firebot and Prowl. In the Hasbro line, the Emergency Team were released in the fifth assortment of Mini-Con teams. In Japan, it was part of the eighth wave of Legend of the Microns product, released in September 2003. Aside from packaging, there are no noteworthy differences between the two releases.
This mold was also used to make Impulsor, Energon Rotor, and Cybertron Scythe, and slightly retooled to make Galaxy Force Bulge.

  • Emergency Micron Exdimensions (Mini-Con 3-pack, 2003)
  • ID number: MM-21
  • Release date: September 11, 2003
A limited-edition (yet still standard retail) "Exdimensions" redeco of the Emergency Team was released in Japan, the sole item in the eleventh and final regular-retail release in the line. This version of the Team features a "Twist" now colored black and orange.
This toy was later repurposed as Shattered Glass Holepunch and doubles as the separate character Twist.

  • Emergency Mini-Con Team (Mini-Con 3-pack, 2003)
Part of the seventh and final wave of Armada Mini-Con three-packs, the Emergency Team was given a redeco (without a new team name as previous redecoed teams had). Makeshift got himself a snazzy blue-and-red deco.

Universe (2003)

[edit]
I want to ride my Skysickle.
  • Autobot Whirl with Gunbarrel & Makeshift (Ultra class, 2004)
Makeshift was redecoed for the Universe series in a scheme similar to Impulsor's, but using darker shades of plastic.
He was only available in an Ultra-class set with Whirl and Gunbarrel, released in the third "official" wave of Ultra-class releases (Universe has a few ".5" half-waves, which ultimately put this pack in the fifth set of Ultra releases, yes it's confusing).
This deco of Makeshift was repurposed as Skysickle in "Force of Habit".
