Malignus is a Decepticon from the Bumblebee portion of the live-action film continuity family.

Despite his short stature, Malignus is a Decepticon with big dreams. Having built up a network of loyal Transformers and human collaborators over the years, Malignus plots to turn the pent-up tensions of the Cold War against all of humanity — so as to foment its extinction!

Aware of "Earth's not-inconsiderable cache of Cybertronian treasures", Malignus sought to inflame the Cold War into open conflict, intending to use the cover of a nuclear war to allow the Decepticons to move about undetected. Gathering a cadre of powerful Decepticons, Malignus sent them to infiltrate the Eastern powers. From Cybertron with Love Their acts brought them into conflict with with forces of P.R.O.G.R.A.M.M.E., specifically the Autobot Bumblebee. The Man with the Golden Car Though the Western powers figured out that there was a Decepticon mastermind, Malignus kept himself well hidden, Bumblebee even assuming that Blitzwing was in charge.

Malignus based himself within an abandoned castle in a peninsula, his location being found out when Diabla, tagged with a homing device, arrived back at the castle. Corralling the intruders with his Sharkticons, Malignus revealed himself. Energon Is Forever In short order, Diabla revealed herself as a traitor, with Malignus siccing Dead End on his forces while he set a nuclear missile to launch at the Soviet Union, aware that the United Kingdom would take the blame. As his troops held off Bumblebee, Malignus was confronted by David Reeve and Diana Lux whom he initially managed to hold off, only for Reeve to plant an explosive in his neck, killing the deranged Decepticon.
