Melanie and her three friends were camping in North Oregon's Mount Hood National Forest when the figure of Ratchet came into sight and knocked over a tree onto their tent. The four were alarmed by the giant robot till Buster, perched on Ratchet's shoulder explained that Ratchet's intentions were pure. Melanie, afraid, asked if Buster was sure if Ratchet wouldn't hurt the four, and Buster replied that the robot was a doctor and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Further into the meeting, the humans and the Transformer questioned each other about topics such as the source of the humans' fire (wood) and how Ratchet transported Buster (transforming into an ambulance). All questions settled, the humans began cooking hot dogs, to which Ratchet suggested a faster method using a laser scalpel. After pointing out that humans are not very likely to carry around laser scalpels, Buster underwent a migraine. The four decided to pack up and leave, offering a ride to Buster which he accepted.
