Some sparks are mitotic which allow a Transformer to separate into more than one part while still being a single Transformer.

  • This ability should not be confused with combiners, which combine separate characters into a single machine.
  • Other Transformers exist that are able to split into component forms, for the most part these were introduced before the concept of sparks entered into fiction. Some have been retconned into having mitotic sparks, but this may not apply to all multi-component Transformers.
