[edit]Following his apparent destruction on Cybertron, the Titan Metrotitan was teleported beneath Monument Valley on Earth, As Above...So Below where he went into hibernation above a gigantic deposit of Ore-13. As Above...So Below White Light
Optimus Prime's Autobots were unaware of this fact when they set up a bivouac in Monument Valley after evacuating Thundercracker's homestead in the Sierra Nevadas, The Medium and the Message though Optimus had previously experienced a prophetic dream that involved, among other things, a Titan emerging from the desert. Once Upon a Time on Earth Arcee returned there after confronting Galvatron at Copahua in South America. The Medium and the Message

The Autobot camp in Monument Valley became a staging ground as Prime attempted to coordinate goodwill missions on Earth while dealing with the threat posed by Galvatron; joined by Soundwave, the joint force strategized a major offensive strike on Galvatron's aquatic base of operations. When the Earth Defense Command moved on the Cybertronians, the valley became the site of a major battle as Prime tried to control the situation while fending off Circuit and Longtooth's journalistic endeavors. It's Beginning To And Back Again At Alpha Trion's urging, Prime was able to mentally connect with the slumbering Metrotitan; on Prime's orders, the Titan rose from the ground and intimidated the EDC strike force into retreating. As Above...So Below
Monument Valley became a diplomatic hot spot for both Earth and Cybertronians; while the religiously inclined members of the Council of Worlds viewed the Titan as a holy being – and Optimus a divine Prime for raising and controlling him As Above...So Below – the President and the military viewed the two-mile tall Transformer as a threat to United States sovereignty. No Fair Fights Secret Raiders
Hoping to assuage human concerns about the Cybertronian presence on Earth, Optimus ordered Metrotitan to assume his city form, forming an embassy Prime dubbed "Autobot City." No Fair Fights The peace didn't last long, as a recently revived Sentinel Prime arrived and rampaged across the region to kidnap Garrison Blackrock and hijack Metrotitan's Spacebridge to head to Luna 1. White Light
Several months later, the Autobots were still stationed in Monument Valley as they monitored crisis points across the globe. Concorde Hymn Unbeknownst to the Transformers, the villainous Baron Karza and the shapeshifting Dire Wraiths had set eyes on the Ore-13 beneath their base, and engineered a crisis that would allow the forces of M.A.S.K. to storm Autobot City and steal the Ore for their own usage. In the subsequent battle against a monstrous Baron Karza, Windblade activated Metrotitan's flight protocols, transforming the Titan into his starship mode. Valley Forge The Autobots chose to permanently abandon Monument Valley in favor of remaining airborne. To Walk Among the Chosen
Some time later, Optimus and a small group of Autobots visited Monument Valley to mull on the recent conflict. They were attacked and subdued by Baron Karza, who had returned from Microspace wielding the Enerchanged body of Micronus Prime. Wrath of Karza #1
