Transformers (abbreviated on this wiki as "movie") is the first franchise built around the live-action film series. It was released in 2007 and accompanied by a marketing and merchandise blitz. This franchise is considered the start of a new movie continuity family, partly because of several points of differentiation from Generation 1 and partly as a practical bookkeeping matter: the 2007 franchise encompasses at least a dozen micro-continuities.
