Night

Night is an Autobot Micromaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Hi there, buddy! I'm a ninja! ... oops.

Everything Night (ナイト Naito) knows about being a ninja, he learned from... himself. He's definitely got skills, using his ability to bend light and create darkness to maximum advantage in a fight. His Wingard booster also gives his train mode the ability to traverse land, sea and air for special missions. But his "self-styled" ninjutsu is unpolished, and his gabby, boisterous manner doesn't really help.

Night can join with his companions in the Liner Team to produce the combiner Sixliner.

Train Wars

[edit]
"On your left."

Just as Cybertron seemed lost to the interdimensional incursion of the Fallen, Shouki and the ragtag band of Transformers left to defend Cybertron were greeted by D-Go along with Desire and his old comrade Suiken. The other Trainbots had arrived astride Metroplex, bringing with them the Liner Team and the Train Team! With that, on Windy's count all three teams of train 'bots combined into the Trainbot Omni-Car Joint to chain the Fallen, giving Shouki and company time to vanquish the cosmic evil by funneling Metroplex's power through Shouki's new "Raiden" cannon mode. Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

Well I'm a West coast struttin', one bad mother, got a rattlesnake suitcase under my arm
  • Sixliner (Micromaster Sixteam, 1991)
  • ID number: C-370
Released in the Return of Convoy part of the original Takara Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Night transforms into an EF66 "Blue Train" engine. His rear pegged hitch allows him to connect end-to-end with any fellow train or combiner kibble weapon with a socket-hitch.
He can also form either leg to either train-type Six-team combiner (if you do not use his hitch to better secure the footplate as the instruction booklet shows), but his nominal placement is as the left leg of Sixliner. He can also form the back of any Six-team combiner, but then again, pretty much any Micromaster can as well, so.
He was only available in the complete Sixliner box set, along with this fellow Micromasters Alan, D-Go, Joe, Leaf, and Spark.
This mold was also used to make Convertor and Universe Swindle.

Micromaster

[edit]
Said I'm a mean machine, been drinkin' gasoline, and honey you can make my motor hum
  • Night (Micromaster, 2002)
  • ID number: 6
  • Accessories: Sixliner torso
Part of the first The Transformers: Micromaster assortment, Night and his teammates were re-released in Japan in 2002, this time sold in identical individual boxes, identifiable only by the number on their instruction sheets visible through a small hole in the box.
Like the rest of the Micromaster figures, Night's deco has been altered with the removal of all sticker detailing, with a modified deco using paint. Night loses his silver toes, but gains so much more in both modes. His face and visor are now two different colors instead of all-yellow, plus he get a silver midriff application. In train mode, the biggest change is his train wheels/undercarriage are now painted gray, but he also gains black paint on all his windows and an Autobot symbol on his left side (where it's plainly visible in his Sixliner placement). The Sixliner chestpiece he comes with has also been painted with gold and black detailing, replacing the more complex tech-detailing on the chest-wings.

Notes

[edit]
  • The name "Night" was previously considered by Takara for the Trainbot Getsuei, who transforms into the similar EF65-series electric locomotive.
  • Night, like all of the six-team Micromasters, had no individual bio information whatsoever until his Micromaster release a decade after his original Return of Convoy release.
  • Though Night's Micromaster bio assigns him the Wingard booster, the original Return of Convoy Sixliner instruction booklet shows it being used by Leaf (though really only as an example of how it links to the trains).
