Obtenteum is an Ultra-Energon-derived energy source developed by Tarantulas.

Following his split from Prowl, Tarantulas traveled to Earth, intending to follow in Shockwave's footsteps. There, he found Ultra-Energon at its most potent developmental stage, and developed a modified, synthetic version he termed Obtenteum. Tarantulas credited this superfuel for making achievements such as the Tor and Chimeracons possible. Sins of the Wreckers #3

Notes

• Obtenteum appears to derive its name from the word "obtention", meaning "the act of obtaining something", since it is, after all, the means by which Tarantulas has attained everything he now has.
• The name of the substance may also derive from rocket scientist (and occultist) [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Jack Parsons (rocket engineer)|{{#if:Jack Parsons|Jack Parsons|Jack Parsons (rocket engineer)}}]]'s motto, "Thelema Obtentum Procedero Amoris Nuptiae"—grammatically incorrect Latin for "The establishment of Thelema through the rituals of love". The law of Thelema is "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will."
