When Hoist and Hot Shot fail to deal with a small problem in Hero Hall, things quickly escalate and soon they are dealing with the much larger problem of a dragon attacking Milford.

Synopsis

[edit]

Heatwave assembles the recruits for an important mission — performing repairs to the academy. He starts doling out tasks, but the other recruits are shocked when he assigns Hot Shot the task of running diagnostics on the sim gym. When Hoist makes the case that Hot Shot screws stuff up a lot, Heatwave assigns him to help with the diagnostic. Hoist says he'll meet Hot Shot there in an hour. Hot Shot arrives to find Hoist already running the diagnostic, and quickly realizes Hoist doesn't think he's up to the task. He starts attempting to help, but Hoist points out the sim limiters are turned off, which could allow sim constructs to leave the confines of Hero Hall. Hoist is so busy watching Hot Shot that he shorts a cable, causing the hall to flick through sims and release a sim rabbit unnoticed into the academy.

The two recruits hear the alarm and realize something's escaped Hero Hall. Worried about taking the blame, they start hunting for the escapee despite not knowing what form it's taken. The other recruits are startled at being poked and hugged to make sure they're not holograms, and finally the pair find Heatwave puzzling over a rabbit that just hopped through a wall. They head outside and hunt for the rabbit, unaware that the sim is still running in Hero Hall, and now a herd of cows have also escaped. While the cows roam the academy, Hoist and Hot Shot manage to capture the rabbit and return it to the sim, which is also the point at which they realized the status of the cows.

Reasoning that they'd come this far, the pair resolve to round up the cows, but before they do, Hoist switches the sim to one without animals roaming around to prevent more escapes. They successfully recapture the cows without anyone getting too suspicious, but as they return them to the sim, Hot Shot realizes it's set to the simulation with the dragon. That's when the alarm goes off because there's a dragon attacking Milford. The pair comes clean to the others. Hoist comes up with a plan, having the other recruits conceal the dragon with smoke while he reprograms the dragon to look like a blimp. This succeeds, and the recruits tow the blimp back to the academy. Heatwave is remarkably understanding, however the sim is still running and the cows have escaped again.
