Operation: Doppelgänger was an attempt by the Decepticons at cloning the Autobots' greatest scientific mind, Perceptor.

After realizing that the Autobots' scientitfic advantage led to the Decepticons' defeat in the Great War, Megatron had Shockwave obtain CNA samples from Perceptor. With the CNA, Scalpel created the clone, named Magnificus. The clone, however, showed no interest in the hard sciences, preferring the political scene. As such, he was placed as military counsel at Ijurn.

The scheme would later inspire Starscream to enter the cloning business. The AllSpark Almanac II
