The Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers: Operation Combination (戦え!超ロボット生命体トランスフォーマー 合体大作戦 Tatakae! Chō Robot Seimeitai Transformer Gattai Daisakusen) story pages ran in the pages of TV Magazine from February to October 1992. Unlike Zone or Return of Convoy, the Operation Combination story pages were not supplemented by any additional animation or manga, telling the entirety of the story on its own. These story pages also mark the last vintage Japanese Generation 1 fiction, with the series being cancelled afterward, not to be revived until 1995 with G-2.

The story was written by Masumi Kaneda and the pages were drawn by Ban Magami.

Notes

[edit]
  • Scrash is mentioned in the story pages, but does not appear.
  • The Japanese Generation 1 cartoon timeline published with the Kiss Players manga covers the events of Operation Combination in only a single sentence. Oddly, this sentence does not precisely reflect the events of these story pages and features practically no known characters from the series:
"The new leader of the Decepticons, Scrash, leads Flashwing, Deathplay, Darkfly and Sharpedge to invade Earth, but is stopped by Sixbuilder and the other new defenders of the Earth." This is all kinds of crazy. Scrash did not participate in the assault on Earth seen in the Operation Combination story pages and neither did those four mysterious Decepticons (though some postulate that they may be alternate names for the Jet Corps). Just where this altercation originates is something of a mystery. The likeliest source is one of Takara's "telephone audio adventures" which were known to exist during Operation Combination and, indeed, where the bulk of information regarding Scrash comes from. Whether this altercation is a second battle or an alternate telling of the first one is also unknown.
