Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers

[edit]
  • Battle Gaia (Multi-pack, 1992)
  • ID number: TF-10
  • Accessories: Cannon, pistol
Released in the Operation Combination portion of the original Takara, Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers toyline, Leyland is a redeco of the Combaticon Swindle, transforming into a XR311 Combat Support Vehicle. Since the figure uses the Scramble City-style of combination, Leyland can form the limb of any super robot combination, but their standard placement is as the right leg to Battle Gaia.
Leyland was only available as part of the Battle Gaia giftset, along with Great Cannon, Sandstorm, Shuttle Gunner, and Target Hawk. As one of the last releases of the Japanese Transformers line, at a time when pretty much everyone had stopped buying Transformers, a loose set of the team can demand prices over a thousand U.S. dollars.

Notes

[edit]
  • Leyland is presumably named after the British [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}British Leyland|{{#if:motor company|motor company|British Leyland}}]] that manufactured trucks and buses as well as the [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Land Rover series|{{#if:Land-Rover|Land-Rover|Land Rover series}}]] and other military jeep-style vehicles, although using an inaccurate pronunciation as "lee-land" (リーランド rīrando) rather than "lay-land" (レイランド reirando).
