Patrick Béthune (May 28, 1956 - November 9, 2017) was a French actor active in films, theater and dubbing.

After having worked as a concert organizer (for Frank Zappa, Donna Summer, Bob Marley or the Rolling Stones), and as a second-hand dealer for 15 years, Patrick Béthune started working in theater and voice acting in the early 2000s. It was by voicing Kiefer Sutherland, from 2001 to 2010 in the 24 series that he became well known by the public.

He was the regular voice of Brendan Gleeson, Kiefer Sutherland, John Schneider, and Treat Williams. He dubbed a few times John Travolta and took over the roles of Russell Crowe after the passing of Marc Alfos in 2012.

Also active in animation, he was the French voice of Hondo Ohnaka in the Star Wars universe, Captain Haddock in Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn, Luxus Dreyar in Fairy Tail and Dave McKenzie in Lastman, among numerous other voice roles.

Very prolific in video games, his roles include Jim Raynor in the Starcraft games, Nazir in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xin Zhao and Yasuo in League of Legends, Lev Kravchenko in Call of Duty and Garrick Versio in Star Wars: Battlefront II (his last role).

In 2017, at the age of 61, Patrick Béthune died from cancer.

Notes

[edit]
  • Since Jacques Frantz was probably unavailable at that moment, Patrick Béthune voiced both Attinger and Optimus Prime in the main trailer for Age of Extinction. He tries his best to get his voice close to Jacques, and has been slightly pitched down during the mix to help.
