Pepsi Convoy is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.
PSSHHHHAAAAA!!!

Pepsi Convoy (ペプシコンボイ Pepushi Konboi) has but one mission—to bring cool, refreshing carbonated beverages to the thirsty sentients across the galaxy. With his powerful CO2 soda gun, fueled by the massive Bottle Station, even the mightiest of thirsts shall be quenched!

He is made of a special sample of "sentient metal" originally developed by NASA that was entrusted to the Autobots. This same metal makes up the mysterious thirst-quenching "superhero" known to one and all as [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Pepsi#Pepsiman|{{#if:Pepsiman|Pepsiman|Pepsi#Pepsiman}}]]. It is unknown if Pepsi Convoy shares other traits with Pepsiman, namely a good running speed, nigh-invulnerability, near-muteness, and rather poor luck.

Party on, Slurms!
  • Pepsi Convoy (Autobot, 2005)
  • Accessories: Left & right fists, "CO2 soda gun", "Bottle Station" trailer, cardboard Pepsi Twist bottle
Pepsi Convoy is a new-trailer redeco of the original Optimus Prime toy, inspired by the 1985 special version of Optimus that came with bonus Pepsi decals for his trailer in the North American market. He transforms into a White Freightliner WFT-8664T cabover semi-trailer truck. The windscreen section can open to reveal ultimately-unused chairs that were originally designed for Diaclone driver figures. This release has several new Pepsi-themed paint masks and decals, including a Pepsi logo on his left shoulder. Both it and the Autobot insignia on his right shoulder are tampographed rather than stickers like on previous releases of the original Optimus Prime toy, which would be later carried over to subsequent reissues of the figure.
Instead of the regular trailer that came with all previous releases of the original Optimus Prime toy, Pepsi Convoy is equipped with an entirely new "Bottle Station" (get it?) trailer unit, specially designed to carry a single 500ml-size bottle (a common size in Japan), three 350ml cans, or 12 bottle caps (bottle cap figurines being a common and popular collectible item in Japan). Pepsi Convoy's fists and rifle store on the Station's underside when he's in vehicle mode.
Despite being a Japanese product, the packaging for Pepsi Convoy features "The Transformers" branding, which is the branding used for the English-speaking Generation 1 toylines.
This toy was slightly altered to make the Hasbro Toy Shop exclusive "Pepsi Optimus Prime".

Notes

[edit]
  • The final bio for Pepsi Convoy does not contain the direct, named reference to Pepsiman originally written by author Hirofumi Ichikawa, but still mentions the "sentient metal" that is the basis of the ridiculously amazing Japanese Pepsi mascot's origin.
  • The bio also alludes to Pepsi Convoy being a new body and identity for an existing Autobot, rather than an entirely new Autobot. Which one remains unanswered.
  • This is not the only overt PepsiCo crossover with Transformers... check out the Mountain Dew Robots. Pepsi Convoy totally needs to hang out with Dispensor.
