Piggy Island

In the middle of an ocean lies Piggy Island, a land of constant battle. Largely overrun by the gluttonous, kinda-dumb Bad Piggies, their shoddy constructions litter the island... as do the ruins of Piggie structures, as they're demolished by the Pigs' nemeses: the very angry birds who make up the Flock. The battle over the apparently-tasty eggs protected by the Flock rages on day after day.
Dominated by the huge dome-shaped Hog Head Mountain, the island sports a nature-defying variety of environments... environments that got weirder once the "EggSpark" landed. The alien device caused large parts of the island to turn to metal, as well as turning the contested eggs into the Eggbots, who worked hard to spread the reformatting further, aided by the (easily) brainwashed hordes of armored-up Piggies. The island is also now covered in dangerous terrors like Monoliths, Walking Mortar Towers and missile silos.
Now the similarly-roboticized members of the Flock and those few left loyal to King Pig work to reverse the process and return their home to normal... or as close to "normal" as it passes for in the first place.

[edit]Angry Birds Transformers comic
[edit]Piggy Island became notably more dangerous when the EggSpark caused it to mutate into a metallic madhouse! Though the changes were slow at first, Angry Birds Transformers #1 its transformation eventually spiraled out of control! Terror Towers sprouted from the ground one by one, followed by all sorts of strange structures. Age of Eggstinction! The island seemed to even gain a will of its own, attacking both Autobirds and Deceptihogs as they fought back against the numerous Eggbots that sprung up to fight them. Revenge of the Fowlin'! Piggy Island reverted back to normal once the EggSpark was separated from the land, and launched back into outer-space. Hard Boiled

[edit]Angry Birds Transformers
[edit]Piggie Island is made up of several different regions, uncovered bit by bit as more Autobirds and Deceptihogs are freed:
- The Beach: The first area hit by Optimus Prime Bird in his quest to free the island from the Eggbots, and the Flock's normal stomping grounds. This sandy beach completely surrounds the Limestone Lagoon that takes up a large chunk of the island's lower front. Piggie towers, inflatables, and surfboards litter the shallow waters. One path on the western side of the beach up against the Cobalt Plateaus (see below) leads into a secluded grotto, full of Piggy buildings and cyberformed trees before returning to the sandy shores.
- Desert Island: Smack dab in the middle of the Limestone Lagoon, the Desert Island is a barren region full of cracks and mini-canyons, making it very perilous for any Piggie perched on a particularly precarious pile of platforms. The dried bones of strange beasts litter the ground, but make great target practice. Most of the structures here are made of wood, which can be very profitable in the right Challenge Event.
- Slingshot Forest: Littered with conifers, the Slingshot Forest (also called the Meadow) is also littered with missile silos, perhaps more than any other area on the island. Huge farmhouses can block your shots, while stacks of hay bales make tempting targets and quick sources of cash.
- Cobalt Plateaus: An area of multi-level cliffs, leading to some hard-to-aim-at structures in the distance. The river flowing through the area is also a place on the island where one encounters the aquatic Sharktihogs. The path is littered with small gates, that will either slow time (when blue) or speed it up (when red), leading to some interesting fights. There are also numerous huge indestructible stone blocks arranged on top of each other in ringlike configurations, but surely that can't mean anything important... right?
- Pig City: The region hit the hardest by the EggSpark's reformatting, though some might argue the changes are an improvement. The ramshackle buildings of King Pig's seat of power have been turned to metal, making the haphazard constructions sturdier, if not any less nonsensically-placed. The roadways are littered with deep pits, the only passage being light-bridges activated by blasting flashing-red control towers along the way. Most of the remaining non-metal structures are made up of sturdy stone, tough obstacles to crack. Luckily for the Autobirds and Deceptihogs, a lot of buildings are still pretty freshly-reformatted, which means plenty of Energon Cubes to be gained by blasting the silver structures, meaning plenty of Energonicon firepower. There are also purple shuttles and some familiar lamposts strewn about.
- Hog Head Mountain: Metalicized by the EggSpark, this gigantic dome has been turned into Professor Pig's workshop. The contraption he's constructed inside the cave turns materials gathered by the Autobirds and Deceptihogs into useful Energonicons, valuable Gems, or other materials... but not reliably.
- Caves: Initially only passed through in Sparkruns, these huge underground caverns were just recently discovered. To access them, 10000 units of Plasma needs to be collected to open the gate to the island. Inside, the level layouts are... unusual. Block towers can be partially obstructed by stalagmites, very far in the distance, unevenly perched on solid cave columns, or even right in the player's direct path! Energon is sparse in the form of cyberformed stalagmites. The only new, unique element to this region are the Batpigs; tougher than the average Flying Pig, but at least they don't have any projectile attacks.
- The Jungle: An area of the left of the three mountains of piggy island, getting here requires the use of gems. A lot of gems, 2500 to be exact. The jungle is a massive area filled with trees and vines and even treehouses? It is very similar to the one in some beach levels where the character should go through a jungle filled tunnel but this time it’s just a jungle. It also houses Challenge run, a place where combiners are used in tournaments similar to challenge events.
While the Autobirds and Deceptihogs clear out each region of cyberforming infection, the Eggbots rush around to re-cyberform cleared areas. What a grind! Angry Birds Transformers
Notes
[edit]- Giant slingshots seem to be naturally-occurring landmarks on Piggy Island (though not actually featured in the game).
- The back (northern?) half of the island is still covered in fog on the game map, indicating possible future expansion. In other Angry Birds games, this covered area includes regions like the Great Cliffs, Winter Wonderland/Snowy Peak, and the Bamboo Forest. Rovio shows this by adding the caves and jungle area in future updates.
